ADD TO WISHLIST >

This PDF contains colored maps for the classic adventure: The Ghost Tower ofInverness. It includes a full sized version of each map, as well as split up (4 part) versions of each maps that are small enough to be uploaded into Roll20. These maps were produced using Dungeondraft.

The grid sizes for the these battle maps (for Roll20) are as follows:

The Ghost Tower of Inverness 5E Conversion

Outer Grounds - 127 wide - 163 height

Dungeon Level - 117 wide - 140 height (there should be a 1/2 square on the north/south sides for this maps to fit correctly)

Tower Level - 110 wide - 128 height

This PDF can be found within my FANTASY BATTLE MAP BUNDLE, as well as within my EVERYTHING BUNDLE.

Are these maps formatted so that they can be printed out to scale on a large printer, like at a UPS store?

They are sized for web, at 72dpi. You can print them out, but the resolution isn't super high.

Does that mean 256 dpi versions no longer come with this pack, per the cover page?

If there are 256 dpi images, would they be significantly better to print out compared to 72 dpi?

After going through the product again, I realized that the higher resolution maps were meant to be included, but only the high resolution dungeon map had been added. I've made smaller cut out versions of the Tower Maps (each level), which I'll have uploaded shortly. I'm working on a solution for the high resolution exterior map (the high resolution size for this map would come out to around 15 x 17 feet so I'll probably have to break into four pieces so that it CAN be printed). I should have the high resolution exterior map uploaded within a week at max.

It is cool that the maps are colored but there are problems:
Most are too large to be uploaded to Roll20.
The ones that are cut into quarters are cut in a way that doesn’t work for gameplay. I had to download the full dungeon map and then cut it into quarters myself. And the map of the boss level is useless, it’s just a circle.
Also the size doesn’t align with the grid in roll20 and I had to spend substantial time realigning the maps.

Due to Roll20's upload limitations you do have to either cut the maps up into pieces. Reducing the dpi to make them small enough looses all the detail. The easiest way to upload pieces of each map to Roll20 at the correct size is to count the number squares for each map (height and width) and then set the page in Roll20 to those dimensions. You should them be able to match Roll20's grid without much trouble.

The final level of the tower in the module is essentially an empty room, with the exception of the Soul Gem in the center. What I would suggest is to divide it up into eight quadrants on the GM Level on Roll20 to see which area is effect by the Soul Gem, which will prevent the players from knowing exactly what areas are effected until they figure it out.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
