Steel Elysium | An Eberron Adventure

Steel Elysium

Evil brews in the messy guts of Sharn, the undercity known as Khyber's Gate. A transcended warforged named Radix amasses an army of warforged shells by transplanting their souls into freshly cast, mortal bodies. A small grain of sand in Radix’s gearbox might yet save Sharn from a devastating attack.

Steel Elysium is a 4 to 6 hour adventure designed for four to six 4th to 6th level characters. It is optimized for five characters with an average party level (APL) of 5. To run Steel Elysium, you need a copy of the Monster Manual. A copy of Eberron: Rising from the Last War can help with background information about the setting. It is a dark adventure that deals with death, murder, loss, and worse. Reader discretion advised.

Is it intended that there is no save for the rigged shells explosion damage? I figured that there would at least be a dex save for players so it's not inescapable flat damage that chains together.

Yes, that's intentional. As I designed it, that's already the "successful save" damage. My fear was that you'd need to roll so many saving throws that you lose track of it or at least that is slows the game down. So I'd advise that if you want to nerf the encounter, reduce the number of shells or reduce the damage to 4 (1d8).

Ouch! Thanks for explaining! That's a lot of damage, and while it makes sense that you'd want to minimize saving throws, I still had problems efficiently running that encounter and the corpse collectors just due to the sheer amount of attacks and creatures present to hit.

On page 20 where characters can attempt to use logic to debate Radix, it says a DC 18 Intelligence (Intimidation or Persuasion) check. What skill(s) are supposed to be used here for intelligence?

Hey Cash! I think you answered your question yourself if I understand you right, you use your Intimidation or Persuasion skill. So if you're proficient in on or the other, you add your proficiency bonus to your Intelligence modifier and get your result. If you're not proficient, you use your flat Intelligence bonus. You can also have a look at page 175 of the Player's Handbook under "Variant: Skills with Different Abilities" for additional information.

If you meant something else with your question let me know!

Going to run this adventure for my friend soon, the only issue is on page 12 is says "Location. Basher assaults the characters at any convenient time or location.. It can happen while they travel through Sharn or stay at an inn. A map for the assault while the characters stay at an inn is included."

Yet I can't find any Inn map.

Well, oops. I added the map to the zip file now, you'll find it after downloading it again. Have fun! :D

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
