The annual Magic and Gold Festival in Thentia has begun! Come watch some shows, eat some food, play some games, and solve a murder.

Mischief at the Festival consists of four 1-hour adventures for characters of levels 1 to 4 that take place in the city of Thentia during a large celebration. These are designed to work well as introductory adventures for new players and DMs, but are still exciting and challenging for experienced players. The combats are tuned for newer players, but every combat includes a suggested adjustment to make it more challenging for veteran players.

The adventure itself is extremely easy to run and showcases a wide variety of D&D play experiences, including urban exploration, dungeon delving, combat challenges, improvisational roleplay, mystery investigation, and minigames. All of the adventures can be played separately or together, in any order the players choose. Characters who play through all four adventures can level up through Tier 1 and reach level 5 by the end if they so wish.

Now includes a new map pack by Jeff Smith which features new maps and alternate takes on existing maps. See sample images for what they look like.

The four adventures are:

  • Episode 1: Working in Concert - A popular bardic troupe named Rage Against the Modrons has gone missing right before a performance. The adventurers must rescue the wayward bards and take their places on stage. The show must go on! This adventure features combat and improvisational roleplay.
  • Episode 2: Food Fight - As the adventurers settle down at the food court, the delicious foods suddenly animate into monsters and threaten to turn the diners into dinner! To stop the food fight permanently, the adventurers must delve down into an overgrown pit and discover the secret garden of a vegetarian archmage. This adventure features combat, dungeon crawling, and social negotation.
  • Episode 3: Faire and Free - The adventurers enjoy some fun games at the faire when they witness a pair of bounty hunters looking for a family of escaped slaves. The heroes are the only ones who can lead that family to freedom through the winding tunnels underneath the city. This adventure features combat, minigames, and social roleplay.
  • Episode 4: Live Long and Prosper - The adventurers go watch a panel of alchemists here to discuss their latest breakthrough in brewing potions of longevity. But the panel is cut short when they discover that one of the panelists has been murdered, and another panelist must be the culprit. Can they figure out the murderer before the night is out? This adventure features roleplay, investigation, and mystery.

i'm half-way through this, and its been a real treat so far to run. i have a heavy-roleplay party and this collection really allows for that room to play in character, especially since the prompts to encourage roleplay fit into the direction of th [...]

There is good material here. Cultivation is a great encounter. The liberation of the Welbers is very satisfying. And, rescuing a band was pretty fun. However, there are some real issues here. A physical mini-game that requires manual dexterity m [...]

This is a very well done module. It is made up of 4 mini-adventures which each showcase different types of play. This would be an excellent module to use to introduce new players to D&D, especially any players who have attended a convention before. [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
