The Binder Class

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The dynamic and versatile Binder class of third edition (v.3.5) returns in this updated and expanded iteration! These mystics bind themselves to vestiges—beings trapped beyond life, death, and undeath, summoned by drawing their unique seals. Inspired by source material from every edition and incorporating elements and history from the Forgotten Realms, Eberron, Ravnica, Theros, the Inner and Outer Planes, and the Far Realm, this 93-page supplement contains everything you need to play a Binder character, for use with the 5th Edition of Dungeons & Dragons.

Within you'll find:

  • Complete Binder class features, tables, and lore
  • 4 distinct subclass options: Anima Mage, Knight of the Sacred Seal, Soul Slayer, and Tenebrous Apostate
  • 45 detailed vestiges and their granted abilities (more than a dozen, such as Atropus, Dune-Brood, Gith, il-Lashtavar, and Yog-Sothoth appearing as vestiges for the first time)
  • Multiclassing details
  • 4 Binder NPC stat blocks with modular traits

Individual vestiges magically grant a wide range of powers: martial, skill-based, spell-like, sensory, resistances, immunities, etc. Best of all, the class's ability to swap out vestiges (and bind to multiple vestiges at higher levels) lets you change your character's skill set each day when your pact with a vestige expires and you summon and bind a new one. This allows for incredible versatility and modular game mechanics!

The four subclasses add even more unique options:

  • Anima Mage: Gains spellcasting abilities, meta-magical augmentations, and heightened awareness by directly touching the Weave through a bound vestige's unique existence outside reality.
  • Knight of the Sacred Seal: Forms a true partnership with one particular vestige, allowing access to a deeper well of abilities that boost fortititude and confer significant martial advantages.
  • Soul Slayer: Part sleuth, part hunter, Soul Slayers channel the power of their vestiges' souls to stalk and kill savage horrors, often hiring themselves out as monster exterminators.
  • Tenebrous Apostate: Gleans unusual powers over darkness and undeath along with limited access to cleric spells through devotion to the sundered remnants of divinity once possessed by a demon lord.

UPDATE: Thank you to everyone who's already downloaded this product! An updated version of the supplement was uploaded on 10 June 2020. This update makes a minor (but important) modification to the class's Pact Augmentation feature (i.e. only one of the paired resistances may be chosen at any given time) and to the Tenebrous Apostate NPC stat block.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
