You know.. telling people that you're publishing to Roll20 = crappy assets.

The rest of the world uses VTT maps at ~140-150ppi and tokens at 200-250ppi. Also, they don't bother forcing crappy quality on to their maps to make the file size small enough to make the shroomheads at Roll20 happy.

So yeah, kindly DO share the specs of your assets so that people can make an informed decision on whether or not they want them.

...this honestly isn't a dig. I own basically everything you've produced EXCEPT the map packs.

James, you could not have worded this in a more condescending tone. As someone who's switched from Roll20 to Foundry VTT, I mostly agree with what you're saying. But saying things like "The rest of the word..." and "so yeah, kindly DO..." makes you sound like the most entitled person in these comments. It would not have hurt to simply say "Hey, appreciate the work but would really like some higher resolution maps to use in Foundry (or whatever your VTT of choice is). Just my two cents.

Mmm.. I did indeed come across wrong. I was speaking to Roll20, NOTHING to do with the assets here. I love everything that Carl has produced so far.

Roll20 requires maps be only 72PPI and some ridiculous low file size (they keep changing it and I don't recall exactly). The entire point is that calling out in the title that you are producing maps to Roll20 standards is going to HURT you, because all of the other VTT platforms have higher standards. For instance, FoundryVTT won't even let you use maps crappier then 50PPI, because it makes all of that advanced lighting, vision and animated effects look too crappy.

The entire point was to ASK the content creator to provide the stats for maps. IE: the maps are:
Somewhere_In_Barovia_24x18_72PPI.jpg reduced in quality to meet Roll20 standards OR
Somewhere_In_Barovia_24x18_150PPI.jpg at 91% quality (for minimum visual artifacts)

These are the two standards that cover the needs of almost every VTT platform today. On a...See more

How large are all the files in total? Wondering if I'll need to purchase Roll20 plus subscription in order to upload this to my game. Not sure how/if Roll20 handles zip files.

Sure, they are just JPGs that you can use on any online gaming system or even print them out.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
