Theros Bestiarium - 72 New Monsters for your Theros Campaign

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The quintessential Theros bestiary, as featured on geeknative.com. Now with 72 monsters, allies, and foes!

This bestiary is packed to the brim with new creatures from Theros, inspired by Magic: The Gathering cards and Classical Mythology, ranging from Challenge Ratings 0 to 29, including one new mythic encounter. Everything from heroic warriors of the poleis to monstrous foes to powerful nyxborn creatures await in this folio. Each monster comes with a colorful description, inspired by Greek mythology and the lore of Magic: The Gathering.

Face your heroes with ordeals they have never seen before!

Do you have an aquatic monster you have really wanted to try out for a long time, but your heroes are cowardly drywalkers? Have Thassa's Devourer, a living pond of water, carry it to them!

Do you want to face your heroes with a truly titanic task? Confront them with the Bearer of the Heavens, a giant so large that it carries a portion of the sky itself on its back!

Is your minotaur horde lacking in brutality? Send in the Ragemonger, a hateful minotaur bard that boosts its allies while also driving them completely mad!

They, and many more, such as the promethean Titan of Eternal Fire or the insurmountable Heroes' Bane hydra, await between the covers of this work!1Image_23

Umm, so I'm just reading through this. Is divine smite actually balanced on a critical on a roll of 15-20? 15?!?

I was initially excited for this but the formatting means that attempting to copy-paste the information into a stat block on virtual tabletops is cumbersome in the extreme as you end up getting broken sentences like this:

"The petrifer hiolds up the head iof a medusa it has slain. Each creature within 15 f. iof the
petrifer that can see it can use its reaction tio cliose its eyes,
becioming unable tio see the petrifer untl the start iof the
petriferts next turn."

Much of the reason I even purchase products like this is because of how it cuts down on prep time, but if I were to use this product I'd still need to rewrite most of it manually if only to remove the superfluous letters. Can't say I am terribly pleased with my purchase.

Edit: After testing with the flavor text I can confirm that it is the strange stat blocks that seem to be causing this, any chance you could fix that issue or at the very least post stats without them?

Hi, I will add a printer-friendly version with more easily copyable statblocks to the product as soon as possible.

I uploaded a new printer-friendly version that you can also copy from without the text being distorted.

Hi, just as a quick update, I recently updated the file and used a new font, which allows for easier copying from the base file.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
