Exploring Eberron

Join Eberron setting creator Keith Baker in this tour through the lands, oceans, and planes of Eberron. Exploring Eberron presents Keith's vision of Eberron like never before, with fresh lore and rich illustrations to bring the setting to life.

In this book, Keith takes players and Dungeon Masters on a thrilling dive into the world of Eberron. Encounter the monstrous folk of Droaam, the goblinoid Heirs of Dhakaan, the Mror dwarves and their Realm Below, and the sahuagin and merfolk dwelling beneath the waves. Embrace faiths of altruism, pragmatism, and darkness. Browse the tomes of Dolurrh’s Vault of Memories, seek the Amaranthine Cities of Irian and Mabar, meditate with the githzerai monks of Kythri, and much more.

The adventure won't be easy! Mighty friends and foes await—from legendary archfey and proud sahuagin to nightmarish quori and alien daelkyr. Eberron is a world in need of heroes, but take heart: between these pages lie a host of character options for would-be heroes to enjoy. You'll discover new archetypes for the artificer, cleric, druid, monk, and bard. Play unique Eberron races and subraces including gnolls, Dhakaani goblinoids, aasimar of diverse faiths, and ruinbound dwarves. Uncover a wealth of magic items from around the world, wield symbionts that bond with your very flesh, channel your dragonmark with focus items—and perhaps even manifest a Siberys dragonmark of immense power.

I'm looking to play a living weapon monk soon. Does anyone what the significance of the forged heart section where it says your unarmed strikes count as adamantine weapons is? I'm trying to figure out if this has any mechanical implications. The only thing I can think of is the variant rules for adamantine weapons from XGE.

Hi! Certain creatures, such as golems, have resistance or immunity to damage from nonmagical attacks that aren't adamantine (same as silver to lycanthropes).
Customer avatar
Joe M August 04, 2020 7:00 pm UTC
Additionally, since it specifies they count as Adamantine weapons in general rather than saying something like "for the purpose of overcoming Resistance and Immunity to nonadamant weapons" or the like they'd also have the "extra effective at breaking objects" bit where any hit against an object is treated as a crit

I am a module designer and am asking if Keith and I can work together to create a virtual table top version of this book. If he agrees it will take me no more than a couple of months to get it fully converted and coded.

Keith, can you please let folks know via this thread when the errata has been updated? I am waiting to get the physical book + PDF combo until I know that the errata has been updated in the current PDF and the print file will incorporate this. Thanks!

Unfortunately, DMsGuild doesn't give writers the ability to update their print copies without taking the *entire* product off sale and offline during the approval process (which can take 1-2 months including shipping). So I expect the print copy won't be able to be updated - but the errata document will definitely be kept up to date :)

What?!? Really? That's insane! Why is their POD process so unworkable?
Customer avatar
Jayme A August 04, 2020 7:18 pm UTC
Wow, so *that's* why books disappear from POD, only to reappear months later.

Still, I hope the physical book is updated after all the errata is in and sales begin to die down. I own a few physical books that received updates, like David Schirduan's Bone Marshes. So it's not impossible, just unlikely. Fingers crossed!

Circle of the Forged's capstone is somewhat ambiguous. While Shaped you're immune to several conditions. In addition, you're immune to Poison damage. Is that intended as only while Shaped you're immune to the damage, or as you're immune to Poison damage whether you're in your Humanoid(/Fey I guess if someone pulls in Ravnica/Theros Races to Eberron or uses the subclass in a game with those in a different setting?) or Beast form, but you're only immune to the conditions while you are?
Customer avatar
Joe M August 03, 2020 5:47 pm UTC
Additionally, if you're a Warforged of the Circle does the +1 AC of Integrated Protection stack with the +2 of Skin of Steel? It might be debated whether a fleshy creature is "physically capable" of having the feature, but I'd think with them being explicitly Warforged adjacent there's no question on if they'd be considered physically capable

Oh my... USD 59,95 is a price that is very hard for a Brazilian to afford. I even managed to skip the absurd price of shipping it directly, asking a favor to a friend in Canada. But, just out of curiosity: USD 59,95 + USD 11,36 shipping would cost BRL 372,13 - roughly 1/3 of the Brazilian minimum wage.

Guess I will have to wait something happen to check this out. Eberron is my special collection of books, I have all of the WotC's here with me physically. This would be the first DM's Guild physical copy. =/

Not sure if it would be considered a typo but on page 27 when describing a healer magewright the book says " They know the cantrips spare the dying and detect poison and disease, and can perform lesser restoration as a ritual...", detect poison and disease is a first level ritual spell but the text is implying if not straight up saying it's a cantrip. Doesn't change a lot but i noticed it, love the book so far and despite being a relative newcomer to Eberron I love the setting it's definitely my favorite premade setting I've seen.

This book is everything I could want and more ina a lore book. This explores concepts so rarely talked about in any Eberron sourcebook and the ideas this have given me allow me to run Eberron campaigns until the cows come home. The PDF is incredibly well made, the layout superb, and I just don't think words can do this book justice. If you are an Eberron fan, pick up this book.

Seems like I found a typo on page 211 of v1.02, first paragraph about Dhakaani Golin’dar, mentions they "mature faser" which I am guessing should probably be "mature faster".

I cannot think of anything else to say about this book other than it brings joy. It is wonderful to see new material on Eberron from the mouth of Siberys (Keith Baker) himself.

The expansion to existing lore, fleshing out of magical items, details on where an artificer can study in Khorvaire (So much love for the artificer in this book), a frickin' GOBLINOID PHRASE DICTIONARY, details about the unique planes of Eberron...basically everything in this book made me happy.

This is a must have book for anyone playing in an Eberron Campaign, regardless of the version of DnD you have. Since it's not an official WotC publication, it isn't AL legal, but it's a must have for any other campaign set in Eberron or inspired by the setting.

Thank you Keith, this has been well worth the wait.

Hello there, absolutely loving the book as someone who’s read every single published Eberron book this one is easily one of my favorites, I don’t know if this is the appropriate place to mention this, but on page 1 about halfway down the second column the word more is repeated twice

"While this tale is known to all, some traditions give it more more weight than others. In the Five Nations, most consider it a simple metaphor for sky, earth, and the monsters that lurk below."

Loving the book so far, I'm getting sucked deeper into Eberron than ever before.

Saw an error that you might want to add to the Errata, but wasn't sure how best to report it:

Pg. 17 "Even small towns had crystal theaters where audiences could scry on the great performances in the Demesne of Shape."
This should probably be either the Demsesne of Motion or Music. Shape deals with sculptors, painters, potters, and any form of physical art.

Good question! I (editor) checked with Keith on this, and he responded: "The Five Demesnes are two things. Yes, they are schools - but also the five largest enclaves of the house. As enclaves of the house, they host performances of all disciplines (e.g. music), even if they only teach one discipline. The Demesne of Shape, among other things, is where you have the best stage sets. So we aren't going to broadcast the drama *classes* taught at the Demesne of Shape, but they do likely have the best props and stage of any demesne - that productions could likely be aired from. So it could go either way."

I've been part of an Eberron game for a month now, and as someone completely new to the setting and moderately new to the Forgotten Realms, I've been falling in love with Eberron more and more each week.

This book is definitely on my radar for when my wallet allows it. Koodos to everyone involved! I'd also love to back future works as well (especially adventures and campaign books).

Thank you everyone who wrote in with comments and errata! PDF version 1.02 is now live on the download page, please go and download the latest version. (You can check your PDF version number on the Credits page.)

In regards to the hardcover, we have included the Print Errata 1.02 document, but the original print version will remain on order. Because print-on-demand products through DMs Guild do not allow for changes, the updating process would require up to 2 months for a new print version and would be unavailable for sale during that time. However, significant errata is included in a separate document available here and on keith-baker.com shortly.

Thank you again!

i purchased both the print and the pdf version as i have decided to strictly run campaigns in Eberron. This book is fantastic and much needed. So i have a question: i do not like reading books digitally and i do not want to mark up the copy i purchased, so is there a way to obtain permission to have this printed at my local store so that i can highlight, mark and annotate the living hell out of it? BTW. Good job Keith this was definitely worth the wait!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
