Wild Magic for Every Class

ADD TO WISHLIST >

"It was amazing, hilarious, and my whole group absolutely loved it." -Kat S.

"I didn't realize I needed this in my life!" -Scotty B.

"Wild Magic for EVERY class! Need I say more?" -Arthur Rouise

Shouldn't every player character have a way to introduce dynamic magical chaos into their playstyle? Wild Magic for Every Class is a new feat and accompanying set of Wild Magic Surges that answer this question: “BY VIOLET LIGHTNING, YES!”

Included in this PDF, you'll discover 750 new surges spread over 15 tables - one for each core class in Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition, plus the Artificer, Blood Hunter, and the Pugilist. Will your Fighter sprout suction cups from their fingers and go on an unstoppable grappling spree? Will your Barbarian swap tattoos with a stranger? Will you catch the legendary money bunny!? Each surge provides a whimsical disruption of the status quo, a unique mechanical outcome to react to, or both! Make sure to check out illustrator Matthew Dobrich, who brings it all to life.

Every party is unique, and as always this supplement is written with that in mind. Also included are variant rules and play advice to help ensure that introducing more randomness doesn’t mean detracting from other folks’ fun. Whether you want to integrate Wild Magic as a story element from the start or simply add some spice to an existing character, you’ll find a solution. Both social and in-character guidelines are provided, and the hundreds of surges listed can be easily replaced piecemeal or even remixed if you write your own!

If you or someone you know are the kind of player that can’t get enough of those hectic d100 Wild Magic rolls, then this is your time to shine. But even if not, Wild Magic also works as a great temporary effect caused by an enchantment, a curse, or a magically unstable environment. This supplement fits any setting with an unpredictable source of magic, and any character with or without an available feat slot.

EXPANSION UPDATE! In celebration of making over 250 500 1000 2000 sales, I have developed THREE expansions for this title. 150 new Surges spread across three new tables, one each for Eberron's official Artificer class and Matt Mercer's Blood Hunter class, as well as Benjamin Huffman's hit Pugilist class! This content is available at no extra cost to all previous and future purchasers in the latest version of the files.

For something a little more hardcore, check out my first DM's Guild entry, Last Stand - A Worthy Death. Epicness insurance is not for the faint of heart! Included in this supplement are over 40 new character options called "Last Stands," designed to make sure that player character permadeath feels dramatic, rewarding, and memorable.

But if you want Last Stand for free...

My third release, Might vs. Magic, is my biggest and most ambitious supplement yet! It features over a dozen new class archetypes, over 20 new spells, and over 30 new magic items. It even features a counterspell expansion pack, not to mention spectacular new art, behind-the-scenes design, and variant rules to boot!

THE MONSTER MENU IS MY LATEST WORK!!

With over 100 unique monster meals, your party will be eating gelatinous cube preserves and deep-fried kraken rings in no time. Take a taste of the preview over on its DMs Guild store page! Cheers.

Sounds really cool. If I used this, I have one gripe. If you going to allow a wild magic surge on ANY martial attack, then why not allow it on cantrips as well? Casters are at a disadvantage if they can only trigger it with spells slots.

Sounds like a simple house rule more than a gripe! But yes, I had to make a call about the base rule to prevent indefinite fishing for surges. You might enjoy the variant rules though, particularly Critical Chaos!

This looks really awesome. Something I have always wanted, to spread the wild magic about :) Have you considered having this converted for use on Fantasy Grounds? If so I would love to help you do this. I work as a freelancer with the Grim Press FG Conversion team. If you are interested in knowing more https://discord.gg/BXAEhpuUGD is a link tot he Grim Press discord. I am Blokka on there, but any of the conversion team can help answer any questions you might have. :)

I really love this supplement! A printer-friendly B&W version would be so nice to have as well though.

Noted! I'll try to learn how to do that in InDesign for my next supplement, and I'll do it for my past products too if it turns out smoothly.

Hello! Very cool and nice feat. I hope I will be allowed to add it to my warlock I'm playing in Descent into Avernus. One question though: May I publish this feat as homebrew over at D&D Beyond? I will link back to this product and your author page. I wont publish the tables with it so people will buy it from you.

Hello Roman, thank you for the kind words! I would just need a little clarification - you and D&D Beyond would neither charge any fees nor claim any rights to the content, correct? If so, then withholding the tables should be enough. Let me know!

It's not keeping within the agreement for material published on the guild to be posted on other sites. So even with permission, it's a no-go to publish on another platform like D&D Beyond. Figured you two should know so it doesn't cause issues later.

Hmm, thanks for the advice. I suppose I assumed Roman was a representative, which was naive of me.

I assume he's just a player/random user of the site, and he's talking about publishing the feat as public homebrew. D&D Beyond's homebrew publishing guidelines are here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/homebrew-rules-guidelines

IF submitted by someone other than the content creator, publishing it by someone else would presumably fall afoul of these requirements:
"- Do not submit homebrew that contains copyrighted material. We can review it again if you remove any and all copyrighted content and any references to it (e.g. Captain America's Shield, anything from Star Wars, etc.).
- Do not submit any content owned by a third party D&D partner (e.g. Critical Role content, content from Kobold Press, etc)."

But yeah, as Brian said, barring some special agreement with DMsGuild itself, I think content that's published can't be republished elsewhere.

That said, Roman, if you just want to use it for yourself, you don't need to publish it as public homebrew -...See more

Haven't gone through them all yet but so far I'm a fan. My one hiccup I've seen is the apparent assumption a Paladin has a deity when in 5e thats not a given as its based on Oaths. And there are a number of surges that rely on religion to function. Is there any thought on non-theistic surges or is adjusting those just DM discretion?

Hey James! Glad to hear you’re enjoying it. Honestly, I went back and forth on the deity effects as well as a few other entries such as those involving alignment. I actually tend to play “unaligned” characters myself! I may end up errataing them if more folks feel thrown off, but in the mean time a DM’s interpretation of the Oath can serve a similar purpose. Thank you for the feedback!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
