Are their unlabeled or VTT that are supposed to come with the zip file? I didn’t get either when I downloaded it.

Hi Jeffrey! Yes, there should be both, so I hope something didn't go amiss! The file path for VTT and player safe maps should be The Corruption of Skyhorn Lighthouse V1 - Corruption Maps - The Corruption of Skyhorn Lighthouse VTT Maps (the maps that aren't in a folder at that same level are all the player safe versions).

If those aren't there, re-downloading the file might be the best bet in case it was an incomplete download!

Picked this up and planning to run it soon, but the last section doesn't quite make sense for me. Why would the Marid, who is an arrogant Genie, tolerate an creepy evil Aboleth just hanging out in his house? I know he says he is bored an annoyed with everything, but the monster is literally in the next room, and the Captain and Thralls just keep wandering through the Marid's bedroom. I just know my players are gonna ask about this.

He's just not willing to risk his personal safety to intervene! He's also not allowed to leave his room due to being banished and under room arrest, so he's taking the path of least resistance for now (and is kind of secretly hoping the aboleth messes the magic of the place up enough to free Farzad from his entrapment in this room). I'd say it's a mixture of ennui and cowardice.

Kelsey,

Hopefully you are still keeping tabs here. We just finished The Secrets of Skyhorn Lighthouse, and loved it.
I was looking for a new adventure and found this one!

I kind of wanted to jump them up to level 10. Would this adventure lend itself ok to pushing the level up a bit? IOW what ability would break the challenge curve?

Hi Ryan! Absolutely, you could jump this adventure up to level 10 without breaking anything. Your group's characters would have access to level 5 spells, but the only concerns I'd have there is that they'd be able to leverage powerful divinations like scrying and commune to figure out what's going on a bit faster.

Combats for level 10 characters are also similar in power level for level 8 characters, so I don't think you'd need to replace or rework any monsters -- at the most, you could add one or two more of the lowest-level monster to each combat to spike the difficulty a slight bit (for example, adding one or two more triton veterans or aboleth thralls).

All in all, I think it would be a pretty easy bump up to 10! :)

I bought the FG version. So I don't know if things are better explained in the pdf but I have a few questions.
The goblin's ship is a underwater vehicle but I guess it is not fully closed? Otherwise it would be impossible to interact with sea encounters? Also, at which point should the ship malfunctions occure?
And lastly, the kelp suppresses magic, like water breathing, for 1d20 minutes but... what should players do if they can't breath for so long??

Hi Patrick! All good questions. Some things I left up to the DM for sake of brevity, but I can give you my take on them and hopefully that will be helpful! :)

1. Goblin submarine: There's a door that leads to the outside, and while underwater, you could handle this a few ways. The submarine could flood internally, requiring the goblins to put on the underwater breathing helms they have, or you can "hand wave" the flooding bit and assume there is some minor magic keeping the water from rushing in. I think whatever dramatically fits the moment is the right option! :D

2. Submarine malfunctions: Those can happen whenever, but often are most exciting when combined with a combat or an encounter. If you want them to be evenly spaced, I'd do one at the middle of the trip, and one near the end.

3. Magic kelp: It's very dangerous! The characters will likely have access to various forms of water breathing magic, self-transformation magic, or even some forms of teleportation...See more

omg!! This is so exciting! My characters are level 8 now and are passing skyhorn lighthouse in the near future once we're able to meet again. :D

Poor Lucien, lol. He got so much guff from my party during the last visit. Coppertree is still a valued source of info for everyone and when one of my players had to switch players they made a sailor who'd been working under her command. :) I can't wait to see Annabelle Lee fiiiiiiinally after all this time.

Kudos on this followup adventure! :D /claps!

Hahahahaaa yessss! That's so cool that one of the characters was working for Sheila. That's going to make encountering Annabel Lee a fun situation, I'm curious what they'll do! :D

Ran 'The Secrets of Skyhorn Lighthouse' as a Halloween one-shot, that turned into 3 sessions because my party explored every nook and cranny of that island! Can't wait to run this, looks incredible!

Hi Garett! I just updated the download to shorten the names of the files, so maybe you got caught in that small window of downtime for some reason. If you head back to the listing here, you should see a link with a preview file and a .zip file that contains everything: https://www.dmsguild.com/product/311881/The-Corruption-of-Skyhorn-Lighthouse

Haven't had a chance to read through this adventure yet but I just wanted to say that if it's even half as good as Secrets of Skyhorn Lighthouse then it will be amazing.

I ran the 'Secrets of Skyhorn Lighthouse' a while ago for my friends when we were between campaigns, and they all enjoyed it. Wasn't expecting a sequel for it, but I ain't gonna complain about having more D&D stuff!!

What I've read through looks like it will be fun to run for them when the time arrives.

Hi Rob! I have Roll20-optimized maps included with the grid sizing noted, but no FG mod for it. Wish I knew as much about making mods as you do!

Yeah. It's why I purchased it, to run as a VTT as a follow up to the original. Disappointing that it's just the maps.

Hi CD! Would you send me an email at kelsey@thearcanelibrary.com? I'd love to help, sounds like there was some confusion over the inclusion of an FG mod and I have a plan to sort it out. :)

Kelsey,

I realize you and Rob just started talking, but any idea how soon the Fantasy Grounds version will be available? That is the edition I would like as well. I could easily convert it myself as I have done others, but if you have it in the works, I will wait and buy it already converted.

Thank you!

A good question! Rob has signed on to do the FG mod as of yesterday (the delay was totally me being a bit swamped), and I know he’s top-tier professional at this, so I’m sure it won’t be too long of a wait. I’ll let you know once we have a more specific timeline! :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
