Defense of the Dryad

Defense of the Dryad is a 5E one-shot quest or adventure for characters between 1st - 4th level. The guide however is optimised for use for a 4-person group of level 3 characters, but there's suggestions within on how to balance the game for your different player situations!

The adventure is designed to be a springboard introduction into the game and world of Dungeons and Dragons for new players and beginners; to get them in the heroics zone and into the hobby quickly and conveniently.

This particular adventure is based around the popular video-game genre and concept of "Tower Defense" and features lots of popular undeath, fae and natural themes in it's familiar woodland setting.

Within this 33-page Pay-what-you-want guide, you'll be provided everything you'll need to run the game from start to finish, including:

  • A guide to all three acts: introducing the adventure, defending the grove and the epilogue.
  • A table of suggested adventure hooks and character creation prompts to get inspired by.
  • Accredited inspirational art!
  • A copy of the original battle-map which inspired the development of the adventure guide!
  • A personality guide and independent stat-blocks for 2 main NPC's: The Lady Daevra - Dryad Paladin and Doo'rad Rockholme - Gnomish Forge Cleric!
  • 6 New Monsters! Hand-made twists on old favourites, and bespoke tailored to their specific encounters.
  • An italicized director's commentary gives DM's an insight into the context of the adventure design, discussing scene balance and options.
  • Beloved text boxes of exposition!
  • 7(!) D6 tables of encounter alternatives, including a role-play social encounter suggestion - for replayability, or providing new challenges for familiar players at your table.
  • A section on dealing with adventure or player-driven complications.
  • With a little luck, a heartwarming conclusion.
  • A special thanks to the playtesters.

Can your players save The First Tree and the Lady Dryad? Will the adventurers get access to the Feywild and their generous quest reward?

Try Defense of the Dryad, let's find out together! Adventure!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
