The Adventurer’s Domestic Handbook (5e)
Unique Mechanics for Relationships, Business, and Homesteading
Click here for a 32 page preview.

The Adventurer’s Domestic Handbook is everything you need to bring home and hearth to your table. This sprawling 153-page handbook contains 15 subclasses, 29 NPCs, 17 stat blocks, 15 magic items, 20 marriage ceremonies, 5 new vehicles, 6 vehicle upgrades, 6 new feats, and 6 new backgrounds, as well as mechanics for homesteading, raising a family, businesses, and apprenticing. With The Adventurer’s Domestic Handbook, you have everything you need to open up a shop staffed by charming employable NPCs; wine, dine, and quest with romanceable NPCs; take your family on the road with a souped-up wagon; and earn a steady income with your growing chain of businesses in the cities you visit. The 15 subclasses include mechanics for bonding with your party, protecting your allies, and connecting with the land.

From the mind of project lead Lydia Van Hoy (@LydiaVanHoy1), The Adventurer’s Domestic Handbook also features writers Ciarra Parry (@CiarraParry), Kayla Bayens (@JustThinkingKay), and Sadie Lowry (@ incandescaent). Find them on Twitter and share all your domestic goodness with them.

Hey, the text for most titles (before the start of a new section) has this tiny little bar next to some of the letters that says 'No Glyph'. ??? Thought I'd report it to you. Otherwise, great book, thank you!

Hi Im really Interested in implementing this into my game. I did have a question about relationship milestones. I have a couple of NPCs I created and wanted to set up relationship milestones for them but from what Ive seen there isnt a way in the ADH to make your own. Would it be possible for you to make a handbook just for that? I would really be interested in the process you used to create yours so I could create some for my NPCs.

There’s a lot of interesting and well thought out work here -Cool, stuff. Really different and fun. A whole new way to play. You don’t even need to adventure. Just raise a family and run your business. BUT I have to say it refers to some real-world progressive cultural representations; especially with NPC‘s regarding gender and sexuality. This may not be for everyone. I think it would be fair to recommend you to take a good look at the generous example of this book BEFORE you buy.
Peace.

I love the range of options given in this and I was wondering if it would be alright to donate a printed copy of this to my local library?

I really loved everything on this book, it really helped me to get more in my games, but i really have a question... Do you have any suggestion on how giving stats to Apprentices? Specially with Adolescents and younger ones

Commoners typically have stats of 10 across the board, so I would say that's a safe place to start. As for younger ones, a few 7s or 8s in stats like Strength or Wisdom could be appropriate, raising them to 10 as they age--or you could stick with the base of 10 and just leave that up to roleplay.

I was thinking about this as well, as I'm considering using this supplement to run a game centered on children. One thing to consider is that children are smaller than adults; and simply setting their Size one step down can cover a lot of the differences.

If you ever do a revision to this, consider the possibility of handling infants, toddlers, children, and possibly teenagers and elders as a sort of adjustment packages to race, adjusting Ability Scores, Size, and/or Speed downward from the Adults of whatever the Race is.

Definitely on my list of things to get, though I just want to add, looking at the preview, this would've been a perfect doc to have a Hearth Domain cleric since there are gods of the Hearth and protection of the family.

Really would love to see this as a Print on Demand option. A hardcover version would be very welcome on my shelf.

Please just let me buy it! It keeps throwing me back to payment when it tries to authenticate. I have more than enough money too.

I really love this product but the numbers under Maintaining You Land (pg 30) seem a bit off. Unless I am doing the math wrong, it would take a person around 830 years (43,560sq ft at 1 week per sq ft) to prepare one acre of land and cost 43,560gp. I think a skilled laborer can reduce this to around 119 years, but the cost goes up a bit. With an income of 1gp per square foot per month, annual income would be over half a million gp. It does not say how often you have to pay upkeep, but if its per month you end up broke despite this.

Having the costs per acre seems like a better fit and having the maintenance per year would make it possible to operate at a profit.

What's with all the placeholder "no glyphs" text. Am I opening this in the wrong format?

I was trying to click "Click here for a 32 page preview." multiple ways, but nothing happened.

IDK if it's just a glitch, but I wanted to let you know.

I love the options, but I have some serious issues with the balance of pricing for some stuff. On page 30 (Maintaining the Land) I assume you cultivate, maintain and use a basketball court size of field (4700 square feed), which should be something a settler in distant valley should be able to do on his own => and then we have this: "Preparing an empty lot takes 1 week per square foot, and costs 1 gp per week." This means I have to invest over 12 years of my life and 4700 gp to prepare a field the size of basketball court! This has to be wrong!
Page 21 tables tell me I can buy around 10 city shops of comfortable quality with living spaces above the shop for the same amount of money (not counting the dozen years I need to turn the land into a field).

I just want to say how much I love this book. I reference it regardless of what edition im playing. It really provides a fantastic jump point for DMs to turn their scenario or episodic games into something that really feels alive and like youre just another person living in the world around you.

Bravo,

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
