I have a few questions about the homestead rules. First, what is the starting square footage for the simple homestead before adding modifications?
Next, is the price for doors/windows per door/window or for a set number of them? If so, what number? Based on the install time I'd guess 5 (1 door, 4 windows). Same with cosmetics, is that the price per item? What sort of items are considered cosmetics? Beds and chairs or is this supposed to cover stuff like paint and floor mats?
The pay for staff seems a bit low as the Player's Handbook lists the expected pay per day for hirelings at 2 sp for untrained and 2 gp for trained. However, if your staff all expect room and board like the land workers then pay is probably fine but the line for Needs on each employee should be changed to reflect this. Otherwise I don't think you are going to get many guards for 1 gp a week when they could work anywhere else for 2 gp a day.
Lastly, the Guard entry for staff is the same as the Stable Hands. I'm sure the guards...See more

What a perfect supplement to help round out a party and a world, make them feel more real. Plenty to pick and choose from, and very inclusive with the diversity of NPCs. I am bringing this to my table in hopes that my adventures will think about putting down some roots! And as a parent, I love the parental backgrounds and mechanics... eager to try those.

Learned of it from Bob World Builder -- thanks!

I’m buying this because that’s my character and her mate on the cover. (Literally. That’s my lock screen)

Not bad, but the PDF could reaaaaaaaally use some bookmarks for easy material reference.

We are working on an update now that will (hopefully) include bookmarks! Adding them isn't something I've done before, so there wasn't time to add them initially.

I seem to have gotten a bad or corrupted file. The first letter of every introduction is missing, and I keep seeing these "no glyph" banners where I would expect a subtitle or section header.

I received very quick feedback from Dungeon Masters Guild suggesting that my Adobe Reader might be missing some fonts. I tried reinstalling Adobe Reader but even re-downloading the file did not work for me.

However, I was able to download and view the file correctly on my computer, and then from there upload the file to my Dropbox. I can now view the file correctly on my phone.

Hopefully this helps someone else!

Hey, looking forward to picking this up during Play it Forward, but just thought you should know, there appears to be a bit of overset text at the end of Page 7 on the preview document. The last line cuts off halfway through a sentence.

No worries, the rest of that sentence is in the book! It should show up in the full-size preview, which is nearly a 100% preview. I just wanted to give a faster-loading alternative that people could glance at, so there may be cut-offs on a few pages.

Hi, there! Haven't had the chance to use the material yet, but I might have useful feedback about the Paladin Oath of Forged Bonds' Curative Kinship Feature.

As it stands, the paladin is able to keep healing people indefinitely, so long as they keep succeeding in saving throws. This might throw the action economy's balance off.

Wouldn't it be better if the paladin had to succeed in the saving throw and spend a reaction to use the feature? I also feel it should have limited uses of this feature per each short/long rest – something like Charisma Mod + 1 with minimum being at least one use. Afaik, healing is always treated as a finite resource to make sure that fights don't get stuck in infinite healing loops, which this feature allows, as of right now.

Again, I haven't had the chance to actually playtest the content, so I might be wrong, but if that's unintended, maybe patch that feature so it doesn't become situationally OP? (Especially if players decide to cheese it –...See more

Hey! We appreciate your feedback, and are looking into the potential balance issue and figuring out how to resolve it.

I've been eagerly waiting for this and I am SO STOKED to see it out! Can't wait to play!

Question: Is it suited for something like running a 1 on 1 game with my wife? Or, for example, if we have a couple of married characters we want to send out on domestic adventures?

While it doesn't have mechanics specifically for 1 on 1 play, I imagine it could be done easily! The apprenticing system is a more personal alternative to sidekicks, and has everything you would need to potentially stat out and train and entire family of adventurers. The NPCs have stat blocks, from 1/8 to 10 CR, and would make great companions for a 1 on 1 adventure.
There is tons in this book for a couple of married adventurers, too! The home and land chapter has an in-depth home building system, and the character options and magic items would make a married couple a blast to play (and give them bonuses!).

Love it! Thank you very much. Stronghold building has also been on my radar to try out, though I'm way more into your version of it than the traditional castle/keep scenario.

Thanks so much for putting this together. :D So far, 10/10 would recommend. I'll leave a proper review once I've had a chance to integrate it into our game and have got more experience, too.

Rules Edition(s)
Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
