Critically Awesome Essentials is an extension framework used for the 5th Edition D&D ruleset in the Fantasy Grounds VTT. It uses content modules for different functions and assets.

To use THIS module, you MUST HAVE "Critically Awesome Essentials" (available here).

DM Tools is part of the Critically Awesome Essentials family.

Welcome to the third module developed for the Critically Awesome Essentials extension (Extension required to utilize the features of this module):
 

Module #3 - DM Tools

Critically Awesome Essentials' DM Tools will allow players to place their own spell tokens that can be used to represent 5th Edition D&D spell entities, such as Spiritual Weapon, and also allow the player to use the spell tokens as a visual targeting feature.
The size is set in the spell action and can auto-target all available tokens within the area if used as a targeting token.
DM Tools will allow the DM to set a “token stack” which will allow the characters to have additional tokens added to theirs within the 5E ruleset.
This is especially useful with paladins auras, light and visible ranges, and other such emanations.

Since Unity is still in beta, this product DOES have Unity functionality but is not GUARANTEED to work with beta software. It will when Unity is in its final release.

Use the discord server provided above. Look for the Diablo-Bob channel. The author and/or others can answer your questions there.

But in general it works in FGU; however, it frequently breaks after FG updates, both Classic and Unity (at least at the time of this comment). But the author has generally fixed things in a reasonable amount of time to keep things working after the updates, but the fixes don't roll out the day after and sometimes there can be considerable wait time.

But for the current status, ask the discord channel.

An issue with Spell Tokens: I have downloaded the latest version (here) of the CAE and newly purchased DM Tools. I have opened up the module concerned and placed the extension in the right folder.

However, when I right-click on a spell hourglass and then add action, my radial pop up does not include Add Token.

I have watched the YouTube vid 3 times through. Still no radial pop up.

Known issuse or conflicts?

I must be doing something wrong, even after watching the full youtube video twice. Players are unable to add tokens to maps, locked or unlocked. Second, the shift + middle click does not create stacked tokens. Please help.

Any tips or plans to make it compatible with Combat Enhancer? I mean the token stacking problem, where it just duplicates the spell token =(

I'm really interested in this, but we use Unity and 5E Enhancer as well. What is the incompatibility between these so I know if I should wait or dive inn now. :)

hey guys, great extension, i love it.
I do have an issue though: after setting the spell tokens to the spells, as a new action, when i add the token to the map on the player's token, the spell token correctly appears. Then I shift-middle-click it to stack it, all good. But then when I delete the stack, I am unable to select that token again so I cannot remove it from the map.
Any advice regarding this issue?

That is a rendering issue within FG itself. Easiest way is to hide the stack with alt+middle click then destroy the stack

Hi, I discovered that the FGU spell token behavior in the version I downloaded on 6/7 is odd. I must drop all tokens from the GM app since the player has no access to assets (not a big problem). When I drop tokens from the GM app I get a single token of the correct radius (e.g. huner of hadar 20ft radius). I can target with it and make it persistent. However, when I try to do that from the client app after putting the token on with the GM app, the client drops not one token but two. One has no tooltip and is only 5 foot radius. The other has the correct pc name and hunger of hadar spellname tooltip, but it is 25 foot radius. Both are selectable and can be deleted.

Sorry, I used "drop tokens" in two different ways. I have to insert the tokens to the character sheet as GM since the player has no assets yet in FGU and the classic tokens/shared mechanism no longer gives clients token access. My second reference to drop tokens from the GM app is referring to placing the token from the character sheet to the map. That is not working properly from the client app.

Hi Rob, Druid is working great as is resting.
Any prospect of any stack functionality for Unity shortly? spell add action/token does not seem to be there yet. When you said below that FGU/CAE had circle targeting, I could not figure out how to cause that to happen. Does that require the use of Rob's spell effects for it to work? Thanks, Web

If you have the CAE extension updated, and the DM Tools module loaded, you should see add token in the add actions radial menu.

Oopsie. While ago one of the FG devs asked me to try something in the dev channel, so I make a new FG Unity DevApp folder and changed my settings to it, but never changed it back. I just fixed that and spell tokens now appear. Targeting is circular only so far (as was said below). Token merging into stacks is not there yet. After dropping a spell token, checking the "Psst" makes it stay(persist). I have setting Token (GM)/Show Name/ set to "Tooltip". As best I can tell, left click causes a stack to cycle through all members at which point left drag affects the member visible in the tooltip. Which is tolerable. I guess they built that into FGU? Thanks for the reply!

I think this conflicts with the 5E Combat Enhancer. Doesn't show up when that is activated. Just, FYI.

I am replying to myself! First off, I am using Unity, latest version. You can get this working just fine if you download the 5E Enhancer in separate extensions and don't run the Content Share extension. That's the one that conflicts.

For fucks sake people, DO NOT buy this if you have Unity. Even if someone on the Rob2e discord happens to tell you it works on Unity, it does not. Save your money.

That is certainly uncalled for. Unity is a beta product. It changes daily. We have never guaranteed that anything we make will work with a beta product (although we DO try), but it is common knowledge that a beta product is in a state of constant flux. SmiteWorks is changing that sometimes more than once in a day. It CANNOT be kept up with while these changes are being made (although we ARE making attempts to do so). All of our products WILL certainly work with Unity when it is in its final release, but to expect that to happen now (during beta testing) is expecting something that isn't possible.

Cody. I would appreciate a less obscene comment. When you say it’s not working? What part are you referring to? Because I have not made it any secret on here or discord that not all the features are working yet in the unity version of CAE. This was made for Classic, yes. And I have incorporated as much as I can and keep doing such to the unity version. However I have a life, and a family. I do not currently work for SmiteWorks. Making these is not my job! I try to help make the game better for people! Because you dislike the lack of a couple small pieces of functionality? because either the APIs are not present yet or the changes are too swift on those functions that I can not reasonably keep up with them? I always try to improve my products. I always try to improve the quality of life for playing and using FG and FGU when I can. However, I’d appreciate a slightly more mature response than this, also some actual feedback saying what you view as not working that should. I’d be more than happy to discuss this...See more

FYI the version of FGU compatible CAE, has targeting token working (only circle targeting at this time) persistent targeting tokens, and full support for the Rob2e effects coding - spells that have default spell tokens already applied. Hopefully that helps your disposition at least a little. Either way, I hope you enjoy!... have a wonderful day!

I was wondering if the DMSGuild versions of CAE and DM tools include the developmental unity versions? I am mainly interested in the druid shift functions and static and moving spell tokens so I can tolerate if some other functions are not yet working.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
