Spell Cards Collection - Printer Friendly. This is a set of four individual interactive .PDFs for players to create and print their own custom Spell Cards.

This was developed as an alternative to the Gale Force Nine spell cards. In that system the cards have various colours based on whether it is from Xanthars guide, the character race, or spells from different classes. This card set however, focus on differentiating between spells/abilities rather than where those spell came from.

Additionally the Gale Force Nine spell cards often lack all the relevant information which requires players to then look in the PHB, with these cards you can enter the information and organise it how you want to ensure the key aspects are on the card.

Card colours

Green – Represents a ‘Cantrip’. It has been given this colour as you can keep casting it without the use of a spell slot, green represents ‘good to go’.

Blue – This represents ‘Abilities’. These are skills, spells etc. that are inherited by your character class. For example a paladins ‘divine smite’ uses a spell slot and I have found it useful to think of it much like a spell.

Yellow – Represents your ‘Spells’ as it’s a bright colour that stands out in the deck. The use of yellow is a bit of a warning, so you know that it will use a spell slot.

Purple – This represents any ‘Special/Magic Items’ you may have. These cards are there to help remind the player that they have those special items, instead of having to read all the way through their character sheets. This card also has a customizable image, in which the DM or player can place images of their items.

The idea is to make the game more user friendly, especially for people who are playing more complex classes that involves having lots of spells. It’s a way of seeing what the spell/item does without having to troll though the PHB or flick through the character sheet.

These cards have been designed to make them versatile, and encourage home brew content. If a magic effect can only be used once per long rest, there is a box for this on the card. Unused aspects can be left blank if wanted, as most abilities don’t have different levels or used to indicate the number of uses each ability has.

These cards have been designed to print out at the same size as the Gale Force Nine cards and fit into standard size card sleeves.

This was developed to be used in Adobe Acrobat DC (full version), and when opened in other software might not display correctly. This however will print correctly if using Adobe Acrobat Reader, and you should be able to preview it in ‘Print Preview’ mode.

Hi there! This is an interactive .PDF that you can fill out on your computer or by hand if printed. These are blank cards for players to use to help with keeping track of their spells/abilities/cantrips/magic items. I hope that helps!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
