Pacts are amazing things. They allow someone to reach for goals and desires that they can not reach on their own. They allow wrongs to be righted and can change reality to aid those who need it the most.
But pacts are also devious. Very few beings offer pacts without expecting something in return or without an ulterior motive.
A child who is born under the effects of a pact may find that the strange energy that infests their reality has caused them to become linked to a dark, monstrous being called a Pact Beast.
If the situation is right, the Pact Beast can come to the surface, taking over the host in the process.
Pacteds are a special race that uses 2 character sheets, one for your host and one for your Pact Beast.
These two forms get different ability scores and proficiencies, making each form handle totally differently.
However, a Pacted doesn't get to switch at will.
Instead, each of the 6 sub-races has a specific stimulus that makes them switch forms. From the Rampage Pacted that switches whenever the host takes a large amount of damage to the Twisted Magic Pacted that switches whenever it is damaged by a specific school of magic.
This means that every Pacted has to learn how to make its two sides work in harmony as well as learning how to cope with its ever-changing body.
