CCC-KUMORI-03-01
Protégé of the Trampling Forest

Genre: SciFi, Action

Gameplay Duration: 2-4 hours

Optimized: APL 3
Players have the opportunity to transform into animals and problem-solve non-combat solutions.
DMs are provided helpful reference links and guidance to avoid potential triggers.

Rather than the adventurers traveling through a forest, an entire forest thunders toward them, running on its roots, trampling everything in its path. They receive transformative help, but it’s up to the party to get past frightened forest creatures and frightening constructs, to the heart of the problem. Can they stop the protégé of the trampling forest?

Much of this adventure can be run as theater-of-the-mind, although 1 map and 10 illustrations are provided for those who work best with visuals. Two activities, requiring visualization, include maps.
Also included:

  • Random Encounter and Environment Tables
  • Illustrated Animal Shape Player Handouts
  • NPC token tents for print
  • NPC tokens for online play
  • 3 maps
  • 2 Bonus Objective Adventures
  • 1 Story Award
  • 3 Magic Items

This adventure can be played after Bleeding Gate: Pandemonium and before Bleeding Gate: Lineage.

Continue your adventures with the following modules that debuted with Protégé of the Trampling Forest:
The Millwright of Gond

What a wonderful adventure! My party enjoyed the setting, the unusual role-playing options, and the challenges that went beyond combat encounters. The adventure hits all three pillars (combat, social, exploration) and encourages problem-solving, cooperation, and clever solutions.

Hi, Something to consider fixing up in a version 1.0.1: A little over a mile wide would be a bit more than 1.25 km, as the usual mile is already 1.61 km. 1.25 km is about 0.78 miles. Just replace it with 'a little over a kilometer-and-a-half' if you feel that people using metric in daily life can't be trusted to readily do the conversion in their head like they do everywhere else in D&D where to them archaic (or just made-up) units pop up :)

I can see how it it could come off as condescending. I'll remove the conversions, especially since I obviously forgot to check those conversions after making a change to the size of the forest. Thank you for letting me know they were incorrect!

DM's Guild is not letting me download the token files. It gives an error about "the requested source file could not be found".

Might need to re-upload some things or contact DM's Guild support about the issue.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
