Seek out and hunt down your foes with the Inquisitor class!

The Inquisitor is a class designed to represent those dedicated to a cause; be it foiling fiends, stopping spellcasters or annihilating aberrations Inquisitors will stop at nothing to thwart the machinations of their foes. Drawing inspiration from both its pathfinder counter-part and a grim, far-distant future it's a half-caster with its own list of spells capable of both martial prowess and support magic to harry foes and help allies.

Grim and determined, the inquisitor roots out enemies of all kinds, using trickery and guile when righteousness and purity is not enough. Although inquisitors can be dedicated to particular deities as a clandestine part of the formal religious order, some simply follow their own sense of justice and are more than willing to take the most extreme measures to make sure justice, divine or not, is served.

Inquisitors tend to move from place to place, chasing down enemies and researching emerging threats. As a result, they often travel with others, if for no other reason than to mask their presence. Religious inquisitors may work with members of their faith whenever they can, but even such allies are not above suspicion as no one is truly innocent.

An inquisitor's life is a harsh one, short on trust and forever engaging in a game of cat and mouse. How did you enter into such a life? Did your piety for your faith lead you to root out heretics and sinners? Were you assigned such a role in a time of great peril for your order? Or are you simply possessed of an unflinching moral backbone and could no longer stand the corrupt world you see around you?

Some features include:

  • Three diverse subclasses, each designed to tackle a different type of foe: Demons, Mages, Monstrous Creatures, and undead!
  • A unique "Judgement" class ability with many options for maximum utility!
  • Rules for hiring (and paying) your own retinue of followers to help your investigations!
  • And much more!

Updates include:

  • Added the Grave Wardens subclass for fighting undead!
  • Changed the cantrip progression back but Order spellsare now added to your spell list like Cleric Doman/PaladinOath spells.
  • Added Advanced Arcaneries spells to the spell list, included link to the spells too.
  • Tweaked the wording of Magic Absorption.
  • Fixed the wording of Final Judgement's recharge.
  • Fixed an error in the wording for orders.
  • Adjusted levelling of Judgements to both balance their bonuses and make their levelling in line with when you get more uses for simplicity's sake.
  • Expert Interrogator moved to 14th level to mitigate the deadness of that level.
  • Adjusted Expert Interrogator to give proficiency (or expertise) in all three skills rather than a choice of one of the three.
  • Replaced guiding bolt with bless for Daemon Hunter order spells.
  • Specified minimum uses on lots of features that're based on your Wisdom modifier.
  • Updated features from "per long rest" etc to "when you finish a long rest".
  • Grimoire of True Names DC changed to the higher of 13 or target's CR.
  • Baneful Aura now has a limit on uses against non celestials/fey/fiends, also creatures that succeed on the save are now immune for 24 hours.
  • The half damage on an unsuccessful Psychic Backlash now specifies that it rounds down.
  • Hexagrammic Wards can now be used a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier.
  • Predator's Knowledge no specifies a minimum for the attack/damage bonus.
  • Stamina Siphon now uses your spell save DC.
  • Multiclassing now requires Strength 13 or Dexterity 13 similar to Paladins.

I very much like this class. I'd like to make some more orders for it, is there any guide you'd give to making a subclass for it? My other ideas include hunting undead, constructs, and maybe even celestials (for a sort of evil inquisitor).

I'm glad to hear you like the class! I've actually got some ideas floating around for a couple of orders, one of which is hunting Undead. As for making your own, a general guide is to just keep it balanced, don't step on the toes of the other subclasses and make sure it exemplifies what an Inquisitor of that order would be. Also on the note of hunting Celestials, the Order of the Daemon Hunters does already hunt celestials as well as fey and fiends; so if you want an Inquisitor hunting Celestials, there ya go.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
