I don't understand the call to action. Dara wants the characters to accompany her to the Canyon. Currently, Dara, and the characters are in Mahadi's Wandering Emporium. The characters are forbidden from traveling with the Emporium. Why? Also, why does this matter anyway since the adventure has them leaving the Emporium.

Rather than simply leaving the Emporium with Dara, for some reason the characters have to hide under Fai Chen's tent ... by digging holes for themselves? Why?

Why is Fai Chen concerned that the Emporium is leaving soon?

Its established in the beginning of the T2 adventures that upon their arrival in Avernus, Fai Chen made a deal with Mahadi for Dara and the characters to have sanctuary in his Emporium and Mahadi agreed, with the stipulation that they have to stay there, follow the rules, and that they cannot leave. It is implied that they have to find a way to sneak out of the Emporium every time they have to do a mission for Dara. In my campaign I either have Fai Chen cover for them, or have the Salamander brothers sneak them out through their garage the next time the Emporium sets up camp.

This is actually very helpful. I totally missed that part about Mahadi telling the characters that they can't leave. Thanks!

I'm running this campaign on roll20. I just ignored the part about sneaking in and out of the emporium. It doesn't make much sense to me and is a weird requirement. Especially since they leave the emporium and attend a gala with the Mahadi in Episode 12...

Page 5 of the module mentions "Madness Levels", if I understand correctly, this is a concept from Out of the Abyss (and associated modules), which is meant to be a unique effect of that season.

"Regular" madness, as described in the DMG, does not seem to increment additively based of my reading.

Can I confirm if we are supposed to refer to the madness rules from OOTA? Shouldn't the sidebar be reprinted in the module in that case?

DMG 259-260 Or SRD 201-202. But the text is confusing in the module, it takes 6 to 10 hours to find Part 2 in the tunnels. The tunnels protect you from the wind. But you can obtain up to 3 levels of madness. I assume for every fail you go up one chart.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
