Seven Deadly Plagues: A Malady Codex Special

ADD TO WISHLIST >

This supplement is written by medical students with a love for tabletop roleplaying games. Inspired by the vast array of diseases, and the medieval myths that once surrounded them, we embarked on a mission; to enrich other worlds with fantastical diseases.

Deep in each civilization’s roots, there are myths, remedies, and folklore, all revolving around the ailments that affect its people. When each Dungeon Master wants to expand on the details of the societies that unfold before their very eyes, tools that spice up the process become a vital weapon. This supplement will hopefully become one of them, as DMs become inspired by the grim, epic or mundane conditions of the human body and mind.

Do not underestimate diseases. Part of the Dungeon Master’s art is to be able to stir feelings up in their players, and few human conditions could accomplish that better. Used as a way to advance a storyline, to expand a character arc or to create conflict, the following stories can serve you well!

In this book, you'll find seven deadly sins plagues:

  • The Plagues of Swarms, where insects lead by a scarecrow carry Maladies such as the Druid's Curse!
  • Afflictions with lower stakes, like the Plague of Wax from a particular group of kobolds.
  • Maladies that pose sever threat to the world, like the Plague of Gases or that of Blood.
  • Details on the origins, physical manifestations and cures of these diseases and how they spread.
  • Tips on how to implement each one in your games, as well as Plot Hooks, making your life just a bit easier.
  • New monsters and items to challenge your palyers with!
  • And the one time when it was Lupus.
Disclaimer: We are fully aware of the situation our world is in at the date of the release. We want to address that this release, while quite frankly is perfectly -or very poorly timed- is a coincidence. We have been working on this book since October of 2019, as a natural continuation of our work with the Malady series. We are not underestimating the danger nor the hurt that the world is going through. Instead, we want to emphasize that world-wide diseases are horrible things with repreccusions that echo in time, and use fiction to influence reality, even if just by a bit, hopefully positively.

Your world is infected.  Defeat your demons.

Stay safe.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
