Hello, I just recently bought the maps. I'm wanting to print out the Fireweave Bazaar map to miniature scale to use in my next session. I found out i can use MS paint to print it out in a number of pages wide and long. do you have any idea how many 8.5" by 11" pages wide and long should i set the scale to so i can use this with my miniatures?

VTTs like Roll20 have a 5MB maximum but a lot of these maps are well over that. I don't see any low-res options either, is there a solution for this?

Why are none of these maps round numbers in dimensions? If they're actually 70px squares getting dimensions would be trivial, but instead the Fireweave_Bazaar_70 is 5246 x 3306 or 74.94 wide by 47.22, which is MADDENING when importing it to Roll20.

Thanks for the comment Adam. We will be refreshing these older maps prior to release of the complete Oracle Of War map compilation and these updates will be available to all existing purchasers of our map packs.

Hi just purchased this bundle but I'm not seeing a download link, is there an issue with the files currently?

Hi Jacob,

Sorry about this. DMsGuild keeps dropping the file for some reason. I've just re-uploaded it though, so hopefully you now have access to it. If not, let me know.

Having purchased it... what's the difference between the two zip files? One is labeled 'The Complete Spoils of War.zip' and is an unstructured file of all the maps; the other is labelled 'Complete Spoils of War.zip' (no definite article 'The') and has a sub-zip for each adventure. Do they have the same maps?

Also and more importantly - i'm having a heck of a time getting the Fireweaver Bazaar to scale correctly in R20. Do you have the dimensions? I am using the one labelled 'VTT'.

Hi Hyperlexic,

Not sure why you're seeing two available zip files for this as I'm only seeing one at my end. I've just re-added the file, so hopefully this will resolve this issue.

The latest version of the zip contains sub-zips for each adventure and the file you need for EB-02 is 'Fireweave_Bazaar_70'. This map is at 70 pixels per square and having just had a quick count, I believe it to be 75x47 squares.

Hopefully this helps. Any other questions, let me know.

Hi Ian,

There is a large, full colour map of Salvation in this pack, as part of the ‘The Third Protocol’ release. A sample of the eastern part of this can been seen in the last of the samples above.

Is there a (better) map of Salvation in this?

Do you plan to make base and mission maps for "Oracle of War: Salvage Bases and Missions"? I would absolutely love to have them and I'm sure many others would too!

These are wonderful, and I'm using them for my Roll20 games. Just wondering if we can get a text file or something giving us the appropriate map dimensions to use to set up the vtt maps. It takes a while trying to count each square to get them aligned.

Is there any guidance on how to use these maps on Roll20? I've spent an hour and half fidgeting with the alignment and resizing for just the Secret Tunnel map, and can't get it right no matter what. The Salvation maps I gave up on. I really want these to work :-(

All maps in this series have now been updated to 140 or 70 ppi, which I believe is the standard for Roll20. Hopefully this should make things easier.

Now that The Iron Titan epic(-ish) is publicly available, do you have any plans on making and publishing maps for those?

Great resource. One small note - the maps of Salvation are labeled North and South; if you check the compass rose on the originals you'll see this is actually East and West Salvation, respectively.

Absolutely loves these! However, for us digital users, can we get lower DPI VTT versions of the maps? The file sizes are a bit large for programs such as Fantasy Grounds.

Thanks!

I completely agree. Roll20 has a 5MB limit, so most of the maps are unusable as-is. Given the amount of work that went into making these maps, it seems odd that they aren't provided in a way that plugs easily into one of the leading VTTs.

Hi Maite and James,

Glad you're enjoying these map packs and thank you for the feedback.

I have now added additional lower res versions of all maps in this series where the original file size was over 5Mb, all of which have their pixels per inch as part of the filename. I have also added alignment grids to maps which require them, to aid in VTT use.

Hope this helps!

Hi John,

Thank you purchasing these battle maps and I hope you’re enjoying using them.

Unfortunately, I don’t think there is currently a facility on DMs Guild to discount based on previous purchases.

Given that you have already purchased the first three map packs, I would advise against buying the bundle as you would be re-purchasing content you already own.

I can reassure you that there is no additional content in the bundle that you would miss by purchasing the packs separately, so I would recommend adding The Third Protocol to your collection as a separate purchase.

Again, many thanks for using these maps and I hope your Oracle of War campaign is going really well! I know mine is :)

Glad you're enjoying them Conner!

Maps for A Century of Ashes and The Iron Titan are now available, with The Last Word following in early June. I'm also considering creating maps for the Salvage Bases and Missions supplement, if there is enough interest.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
