Amarune's Almanac Volume 3 is the third in a multipart series exploring the eight biomes of Dungeons & Dragons within the Forgotten Realms campaign setting.

Grasslands of the Realms brings life to the oft-forgotten lands of Faerûn. We've populated these vast areas with new and old flora, fauna, and history alike. Grasslands of the Realms does this through both narrative prose, written from the perspective of Amarune Whitewave (the great, great granddaughter of Elminster Aumar), and through occasional notes from her husband, editor, and traveling companion Arclath Delcastle.

Contained with this 52-page tome, you'll get:

    • the Circle of the Plains druid which seeks to expand on the land (grassland) druid.

I have some questions regarding the finding of flora. So, the mundane flora table, and the other herbs and what not listed; are they intended to serve as components for the creation of basic healing potions? Iv'e been looking for a reliable herb gathering mechanic for my druid and other herbalist characters for some time. I know it takes 25 gp of "rare herbs and other materials" and like, 4 hours of time to craft a basic healing potion w/ an herbalism proficiency. Was your system (which i very much like btw) meant to provide a mechanic for finding these materials? If not, do you think it could be adapted to do so? Thank you so much for your hard work, these products are some of my favorites Iv'e ever purchased.

Regarding your inquiry: When you use the Gathering Plants Expedition downtime activity, you must make three Ability checks - with a DC determined by the DM (which should be based on whether the plant is local to the region or not.)

Regardless of the success or failure of these checks, you roll once on the Mundane Flora table. A 5 or 6 on the table results in 25gp worth of herbs and materials; which is intentionally enough to craft a Healing Potion using the rules for the herbalism kit in Xanathar's Guide to Everything.

I see what you did there. Nice!

Now, say i wanted to just find those regular herbs, and not the fancy flora that you have so wonderfully laid out for us. Could I simply make a single ability check (as one does whilst foraging for food during travel) and then roll on ye old mundane herbs chart? I guess what I'm asking is do you think that there is a good way to combine what you've created here with the food foraging rules (make a Wis (survival) check vs the landscape DC, get 1d6+Wis lbs of food)? I'm trying to find a way to quantify how many gp worth of herbs my players can find in a days worth of foraging during travel. Your product has given me a perfectly excellent downtime activity, which Im going to use probably next session, but I'm also in the market for the travel montage version :p

So if I were to send a player out for Mundane Flora, and I was already using these rules, I would consider "10 gp worth of herbs and materials" a unit of that flora, and use the same rules.

Set the DC appropriately low (DC20 in a Desert/Tundra, DC 15 anywhere else except, DC 10 in a Forest or plentiful Grassland) and use the same downtime Gathering Plants Expedition downtime rules.

I think that would generate a decent amount of reward for the effort. If you were lucky, you could get 95gp worth of herbs and flora (3 successes for 1d4+3 units, max roll for 7, + rolling a 5 or 6 on the Mundane Flora table for an additional 25gp worth)

That sounds reasonable, I think my players will like this! I think I may also create a paired down version to accompany the foraging rules so that players can do this during travel, just like hunting and food gathering, based on the numbers you gave me. Thanks so much for you responses! Also, do ou have an ETA on the next volume?? I cannot wait!

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
