The Fall of Cyrog

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Title

Deep in the Underdark, an elder brain Cyrog has died and been reanimated by the Demon Prince of Undeath, Orcus. Brave adventurers will be called upon to help vanquish this evil. Should they fail, Cyrog and all of his mind flayers will be able to create an army for Orcus to unleash destruction upon the Underdark and the world.

In this supplement to Out of the Abyss, your party will explore the lair of an elder brain named Cyrog (aluded to in the official adventure, but never fleshed out). The adventure hooks are primarily linked to Out of the Abyss, but the story may be run as a standalone adventure as well. The adventure contains opportunities for roleplay, exploration, and combat.

The adventure zip file contains:

  • A 14 page PDF dungeon adventure, complete with exciting mind flayer monsters from the Monster Manual and Volo's Guide to Monsters (and possibly Orcus himself).
  • 6 high-resolution color PNG files of the lair map as well as 1-inch grid battlemaps for 5 of the rooms, such as the Dissection Chamber and Transformation Room.
  • A printer friendly version of the PDF with a white background.

Expect 4 to 6 hours of gameplay for a party of 4 to 6 characters, levels 9 to 12.

The previews below show a sample of the adventure.

Good dungeon crawl overall. My players enjoy combat and dungeons so I'm sure it'll be a hit. The art is nice and the story works well as a one shot or with OOTA. I plan on running this as a side quest to OOTA, (OOTA players stop reading) and [...]

This Module was recommended to me while I was running Out of the Abyss. I'm really glad I did as the players had a lot of fun with this module and it had the most memorable place for them. They returned to this area at the end of the Campaign fo [...]

I just DMed this adventure and my players and i had a blast! It has a great hook and is easy to run due to thoughtful inclusions such as a summary at the beginning, possible alternative plot hooks and "friendly advice" that can come from a he [...]

I have both played in and DMed this module, each time as a one shot. I cannot recommend it highly enough. This is the kind of content that Out of the Abyss should have been full of, but was sorely lacking. This module has four very excellent thi [...]

I think the story itself was decently written - the atmosphere was all there. They had a few nonsensical parts including drawings of a happy family that were hard to explain. But I really enjoyed the attention to having the mind worms be a way to avoid [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
