5 Minute Workday Presents:

Blood Hunter Expanded

Sacrifice your humanity to defeat evil.

Building off the creation of Matthew Mercer, this product offers new options for the revised blood hunter class, including new subclasses, new blood curses, and a half-dozen feats—both new and reprinted from other 5MWD products.

Included are four new blood hunter orders. Put the wicked to the torch as a member of the Order of the Inquisitor; take the suffering of others into yourself with the Order of the Sin-Eater; awaken your hidden psionic potential through the Order of the Sundered Veil; or as part of the Order of the Watcher favour a strong defence over an offence.

I'm very happy with this product, which I purchased for an upcoming campaign of Witcher fans. I think they'll really enjoy it.

Great additions for the Blood Hunter. Really enjoy them! I do have a couple bits of feedback.

1. Smell Magic (Order of the Inquisitor) - Really think this should be at will (akin to the Eldritch Sight warlock invocation). The order is built around the idea of sniffing out (dark) magic and should be able to call on it whenever they feel it needed...it is the core of this order's concept (and Detect Magic at will is hardly game-breaking). Perhaps allow it to be used at will, but each use causes loss of hp equal to a roll of the hemocraft die (if you feel there is need to differentiate it from the warlock invocation).

2. Blood Curse of Purification - What saving throw is the 'Amplify' description referring to? There's no mention of a saving throw in the previous description and Crimson Rite damage doesn't allow for a save...you either hit and they take the Crimson Rite damage, or you miss and they don't.

Thanks for the feedback!
1) For this I was less concerned about differentiating the ability from the warlock's and more stacking too much power into the 3rd level class features. And I know some DMs hate Eldritch Sight as the warlock walks into every room then casts detect magic. But you are right that once does seem too low.

2) That's your standard editing artifact as several of the blood curses were written and re-written. (This product was actually 90% finished before Matt Mercer updated the Blood Hunter and had to be heavily overhauled.) In this instance, the creature gets a saving throw each round to shake off the ongoing damage from the curse.

I'll have a corrected/ revised version up in a day or two.

Mmm, I can certainly see that annoying DMs. I guess I've just been lucky that my players only used it at moments that felt appropriate to do so. Perhaps usable a number of times equal to their Intelligence modifier (all expended uses recovered after a long rest)?

I figured a saving throw was in order for that blood curse, just wasn't sure which one. :)

Edit: NM, just saw the revised version. :P

As you probably saw, we were on the same page with tying use to Intelligence. But I also thought smelling magic was just to evocative and such a part of the character, I also opted to make it at-will at a higher level...

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
