Curse of Strahd: Death House - Paper Minis / Printable Pawns

ADD TO WISHLIST >

These paper pawns are perfect for tactical combat in the prelude to Curse of Strahd -- Death House. Every creature from Death House (plus a few extra for good measure) appears in this paintstakingly hand-crafted pdf, and are designed to pop out beautifully at your table. Each pawn features front and back-side artwork.

This product includes 3 files: a printer-friendly black-and-white file, a full color file without background artwork, and a full color file with background artwork.

I recommend printing them on a 110 lb glossy card stock, where they stand up without the aid of a separate base.

These come in full color with backgrounds, full color without backgrounds, and black & white. The pack includes:

  • Ghostly Brother (Thorn)
  • Ghostly Sister (Rose)
  • Ghostly Father Durst
  • Ghostly Mother Durst
    • The parents aren’t ghosts by RAW, but it seems like an easy enough place to go with Death House as a DM that I included them.
  • Ghastly Father Durst (RAW, in the basement)
  • Ghastly Mother Durst (RAW, in the basement)
  • Grick
  • A door
  • A mimic that is done being a door
  • Shadow
  • Ghoul
  • Strahd being chill, just in case you need him to show up early and cackle or whatever
  • Animated Armor
  • Animated Broom
  • Shambling Mound
  • Rat Swarm
  • Insect Swarm
  • Specter

The PDF files for this have some of my druthers for running Death House (how to make the animated armor encounter not be four straight rounds of people repeatedly missing it, and how Strahd may appear and under what circumstances), a section where you can print only what is needed to run the Death House module as it appears in the book, a section for printing one of everything, and a section for printing a hoard of which ever monster you happen to want a lot of.

Edit:

The color background file has been updated with a change that should make folding the bases of the minis easier.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
