For the Crystal Shaper, do the Psicrystal Affinites that say "When you cast an Artificer spell" apply to cantrips as well, or only levelled spells? I would have assumed the former, since it just says "spells" rather than "spells of first level or higher," but that would mean that the Envy Affinity can be used for infinite free healing by just casting Guidance over and over.

Hi, is the intention with the Divine Sniper rogue to allow them to cast light on the luminous arrow with their bonus action each round to get sneak attack? Or is it intended to be cast on an item the target is wearing or an ally is wearing who is also close in combat? The wording is presented in an ambiguous way.

Hi Austin! the intent is that to benefit from sneak attack, the rogue's target should be in an area already brightly lit by their light cantrip. But the rogue can cast use their BA to cast on an object 60 feet away then immediately attack a creature in its bright light.

Is the cataclysm mage meant to be able to cast the spells from their capstone ability an unlimited number of times? Text in question is “ Until the end of your next long rest, you know the cataclysm spell associated with that dragonmark, and you can cast it at its lowest level without expending a spell slot and without material components.” It seems like it may be intentional, but I thought I might as well ask while I’m browsing.

Hi Patrick, so sorry, just saw this comment almost a year later, whoops! Yes, the Cataclysm Mage's capstone essentially gives at-will casting of one specific spell.

Hi! I love the book and the classes. I can tell a lot of work went into these. I just wanted to pick your brains a bit for why the Oath of the Bone Knight and the Oath of the Kell Knight have some big divergences from the structure of WotC paladins. Most noticeably the extra 3rd level multi-benefit features. Thank you!

Is the Soulborn warlock meant to gain full resistance to bludgeoning, slashing and piercing damage at level 10? It feels like it should be non-magical weapon attacks or once per day, otherwise that's insanely powerful.

Yes, it is intentional that the Soulborn gains resistance to bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage at 10th level. It's a good feature, no doubt, but neither the authors nor the playtesters considered it to be over the top for a handful of reasons.

First and foremost, melee-focused warlocks need a significant defensive ability to aid their viability and survivability, especially in comparison to barbarians, fighters and paladins. Their hit points and armor class are likely to be significantly lower unless you multiclass, in which case this feature is delayed even later. Note that the hexblade has a similar ability to significantly reduce incoming damage by turning half the attacks against it into misses (if they come from a hexed opponent), and barbarians gain resistance to all bludgeoning, piercing and slashing while raging at level 1.

Second is an action economy consideration - if your warlock wants to enjoy variety and cast a spell other than hex, it's that much more difficult...See more

I was wondering about the Living Spell familiars. What if my wizard focused on healing? Could I turn a healing spell into a familiar? Everything there is focused on damage, but I wondered about that possibility.

sure, a DM might allow for a healing spell familiar; they might let you make it immune to necrotic damage, and allow its Magical Pseudopod attack to deal magical bludgeoning damage (a la the cantrip version).

Hello! I was wondering if there was a place that I could find the designers' contact information. I have a few questions about posting good content on dmsguild and you all seemed like the right group to ask!

A quick question. Does the Stalward Spirit option (from the Way of the Conduit) cost any ki points? Because the similar ability of the class does cost ki to use (Deflect Missle)? And for the Disruptor: is Arcane ignition usable on your own mines, as the ability states that it only works on "Magical Attacks"?

(I am really enjoying the subclasses, A player in my group is using the Disruptor Artificer and is really enjoying it!)

so delighted to hear you're enjoying them! To answer your questions:

No, none of the 3rd level Spiritual Channel options cost ki, including Stalwart Spirit. We did extend the AC benefit it offers to the Deflect Missiles as well, so you can benefit from that whether you use melee deflection (without ki) or missiles (with ki). But no, the base feature isn't ki-related.

Yes, the damage dealt by your blast disks is a magical effect, and you can use your reaction after your blast disks go BOOM to deal extra damage using Arcane Ignition.

Cheers,
Laura

Oh, I'd love to! But at least for the moment, DMsGuild isn't taking any new POD projects, so it wasn't an option for AoE.

That is a bummer, but I just got a printer so I am going to make an AoE folder for my Friday night game. (I really feel bad that they have to write it all up instead of having something accessible. I mean, I have my iPad but I need that to run my game and not pause...yadda yadda...) I can not even tell you how much this book has been used already. The builds are really awesome. My favorite that I have seen one of my players use right now is the Circle of Eberron. It is NASTY! As a DM, it really has made the combat more exciting. And he's loving the build too. He's my oldest player at 58 and has been playing Druids for years and he said this is one of his favorite builds. I already left you a great review and a lot of praise, but this really is a must have for anyone with the extra cash running an Eberron game. It has all the extra flavor your player's could want. And it beats the humdrum builds that we've been playing for years. So thanks, y'all!

Question, are the subclasses setting specific to Eberron? A lot of them sound really cool and unique, but nothing in the description really indicates how/why they would work specifically in that setting.

Hi Anthony! Did you get a chance to take a look at the preview? If you click on Full Size Preview right below the cover image, you can check out the subclasses and see if they're a good fit for your game :)

As a general answer to your question: the subclasses could be used in any setting mechanically, just some would require different fluff to be a good fit elsewhere. For example, the Divine Sniper's focused around a rogue that channels the power of the Silver Flame in Eberron and uses the bows that are traditional to that church's practices. But I'm sure you could find a way to explain the light-focused abilities in another setting too.

Hope this helps answer your question!

Hi Ben, thanks for the note! We do indeed know that about the preview, but appreciate you reaching out! Our last major project (Eberronicon) had a similar preview including all the player content, only thing we left out was the DM appendices with spoilers. It made it to #1 bestseller so we figured why not do it again! ;)

I'm a fan of letting people know what they're getting before they take the plunge. Gives them confidence their money is well spent. :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
