Reading through in preparation for my start. The Corpse Sculpture is just a gibbering mouther but with a different name. Not sure the stat block is perfect for the creature described. Also, the description of that scene reveals the artillery piece in the boxed text and the next boxed text reads, "Bound at the base of the tower are..." but there is no mention of a tower other than this. Otherwise, the adventure looks like a good beginning to the overarching campaign. I'll post a review after I thoroughly run this module.

What would the size of these maps be if they were printed?

Are the blue glowing boulders or strangely colored rocks in some of the maps supposed to be special?

Nope, just a bit of flavour to demonstrate the strangeness of the Mournland.

Do any of the Oracle of War individual map packs or the Complete Spoils of War map pack, have a Map of Salvation?

Hi Christopher,

There is a complete map of Salvation in The Third Protocol, which is also included in the Spoils of War map pack. A second map of Salvation, this time on a war footing, can be found in Lord Bucket.

I have no idea how to get most of these maps to work on Roll20 :-(

The number of pixels per inch (and therefore each square) for each map is now included in the filenames, if this helps? However, as I personally use Encounter+, I can't give you specific advice on Roll20 usage.

All maps have now been updated to 140 or 70 ppi, which I believe is the standard for Roll20. Hopefully this should make things easier.

Another Roll20 user here.

These maps would be super easy if they listed the # of units wide vs number of units high. For example, "Following the Tracks" is 26 w by 26 h.

The 3x3 grid you put on some maps helps, but knowing the width and height would make the whole process much faster!

I've futzed around with entering the 140 or 70 in the different page settings, and haven't had much success with that. Searching for Roll20 help, I've found some articles where users have requested that feature, but none that show they've implemented it.

Hi Matt,

We've recently updated the maps from the latest storyline (EB-11, EB12 and EB-13) with a square count in the middle of the sizing grid and will be rolling out this feature to previous maps at some point. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Just curious, what would the dimensions for the secret tunnel be for on a VTT?

Can you tell us - how many pixels per grid? Or is that what you mean by 'per inch'?

(Like others I'm challenged with this one on Roll20. It looks like the grid in the map doesn't add up to an even number)

The standard for most D&D is one inch squares, so the number listed in the filename of each map is the number of pixels per square. There is also a grid included on each map to aid in alignment.

Most of our maps are presented at 150ppi, with 75ppi versions provided where the original file size is larger than 5Mb. Where the maps are of such a scale than 75ppi is not possible, different ppi may on occasion be used, but this is rare, and when this occurs the new ppi is reflected in the filename.

I think the issue is that Roll20 and many VTTs use 70ppi/140ppi iirc.

Ahh, that’s good to know! I’ll work on resizing all the Oracle of War packs to a Roll20 friendly ppi.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
