Monsters of the True World

Far to the west of Faerûn across the sea of Swords lies the mysterious land of Maztica. It was discovered, pillaged and then lost again to exile on the even stranger world of Abeir. Back once again, Maztica and its mysteries are ripe for discovery.

While there may be treasure aplenty to find, there are also horrors that are seen nowhere else on Toril. In this book, you will find close to 50 new ones for your PCs to tackle!

A Needed Update

A number of bestiaries have been created for the Maztica Campaign Setting. This book has consolidated, updated and added to the growing list of creatures that have been created through a variety of products.  This book is an update to both TWC6 True World Bestiary II - Monsters A-H and TWC7 True World Bestiary III - Monsters I-Z.

The True World Campaigns (and tagging system):

The True World Campaigns encompasses the books which are linked in the images below.  These campaigns are set mostly in the Forgotten Realms to the west of Faerûn proper on the continental landmass which encompasses Maztica, Anchôromé, Lopango and Katashaka.  It also delves into some planar connections which are more commonly accessed from these lands than elsewhere on the world of Toril.  The books are broken down into smaller campaign regions and are tagged in such a way as to properly identify each product.

MZCANC, LPC, etc:  The main campaign guides for subregions of the True World Campaign.  In this case representing the "Maztica Campaign Guide" and "Anchôromé Campign Guide" respectively.

MZSANS, LPS, etc:  The "S" is used to represent major supplements, whether they are a monster manual for each campaign or a major regional supplement.

MZA, ANA, LPA, etc:  The "A" in this case is used to represent a dedicated campaign adventure.

MZM, ANM, LPM, etc: Small, article sized supplements are tagged with the letter "M."

On Page 43 I noticed that the Eagle Stone Guardian stat block is repeated, but there is no stat block for the Jaguar Stone Guardian.

Page 38. Your text for plumed behemoths (great name BTW) is overlapping a monster statblock, making both unreadable.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
