PHBR1 The Complete Fighter's Handbook (2e)
Regular price: $6.69
Bundle price:
 $2.00
Format:
 Watermarked PDF
Who says fighters are the poor cousins of the AD&D game? No one will say it aloud after reading the Complete Fighter's Handbook: 128 pages of mind-expanding advice on how to make your fighter the leanest, meanest threshing machine for leagues around. New weapons, new proficiencies, new fighting styles, and fighter "kits" make this optional AD&D accessory a useful item for players and DMs. Product History PHBR1: Complete Fighter's Handbook (1989), edited by Aaron Allston, was the first “splatbook” for 2nd edition AD&D. It became the model for every Complete book that followed (and there were a lot, not all of equal quality or similar usefulness), and it is jam-packed with rules for expanding the role of fighters in an AD&D ga...

PHBR2 Complete Thief's Handbook (2e)

Bundle price:
 $2.00

 Watermarked PDF
Hide in shadows, move silently, find traps, open locks - if you thought that was all a thief was good for, think again. The masters of skulking and skullduggery are a force to be reckoned with. Is anyone or anything safe from a person who might be anywhere, anytime?   Learn the thief's most closely guarded secrets in this devious accessory for the AD&D game.   Product History   PHBR2: The Complete Thief's Handbook (1989) follows in the tradition of the previously published Complete Fighter's Handbook: These early supplements for 2nd edition AD&D provide a desperately needed distinction for low-option character classes, introducing kits to help make mechanically similar characters much more distinct in flavor and play style. While the series runs int...

PHBR3 The Complete Priest's Handbook (2e)
Regular price: $6.69
Bundle price:
 $2.00
Format:
 Watermarked PDF
Clerics have long been among players' favorites, but now there are new priest characters for your gaming enjoyment! Within these pages are new rules for mythos-specific priests, guidelines for creating mythoi of your own, how-to's for making new priesthoods. Also here are new priest "kits," so you can play a fighting monk, an amazon priestess, a savage priest, or even a peasant priest (among many others).   Product History PHBR3: The Complete Priest's Handbook (1990), by Aaron Allston, is a rarity. Pay attention, folks, because you'll never see this again in this series: it's the only one of the 2nd edition Complete Handbooks to actually *reduce* the power of the core class. That's actually quite significant.   In a series of supplements full of brilliant and inn...

PHBR4 The Complete Wizard's Handbook (2e)
Regular price: $6.69
Bundle price:
 $1.99
Format:
 Watermarked PDF
If you thought all wizards were alike, think again! The masters of magic now have a new guide to creating more interesting and imaginative mages, just when you thought you had them figured out. The Complete Wizard's Handbook will put a whole new twist on wizards, from personality and dress codes to schools of magic to building that dream laboratory.   Look out, world - you'll never look at a mage the same way again!   *****   Product History The Complete Wizard's Handbook (1990), by a nearly uncredited Rick Swan, is a solid and tremendously useful supplement for 2nd edition AD&D wizards. It's interesting to see how these original Complete books continue to set the pattern for wizardly D&D supplements today: new options, new class expansions and customization...

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
