ADD TO WISHLIST >

Close a gate to Avernus, steal a powerful mind flayer artifact, and risk it all in a drow casino in the exciting second act of the Menzoberranzan Excursion Trilogy!

Devious Designs immediately follows the the surprise attack on House Freth's gladiatorial arena at the end of The Drider's Revenge. As they learn about the devious designs of House Freth's nobility, will the heroes stay loyal to their patron drow house or pit House Freth and House Auvryndar against one another in a riskier, deadlier game?

1/8/22 Note: The trilogy is now complete!

This adventure includes three casino games - two of which were created specifically for the drow casino Tymora's Folly! Lolth's Web, a high-stakes card game, is available as a free promo item!

To utilize this adventure, you'll need the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, Monster Manual, Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage, and The Drider's Revenge.

Endgame, the 12-hour 3rd and final act of the trilogy, weaves the players' choices into the story for the climactic finale!

I wonder if there are still plans to release part 3 in the trilogy. I would like to run the entire trilogy for my Undermountain campaign, but only if there will be a part 3. The characters are nearing the natural point at which this story should begin.

Unfortunately, I'd say that the completion of Act 3 has been postponed indefinitely. There are two major reasons why:

1. Life has gotten extremely busy. My job shifted, and the amount of time I have to allocate to work has increased substantially. I'm at the point where I'm working about 60 hours a week. As I write this message to you on a Saturday morning, I have about 6 hours of carryover work from this week that I'll need to knock out this weekend. On top of that, I'm married and father of two - my family gets most of the time I have left after I get home from work each day. And I still run a weekly D&D game for my longtime gaming group. There's just not been much extra time to allocate to anything else for quite a while.

2. I created these adventures because I loved the characters, story, and setting, but with all the effort I put into writing them, I had hoped I might make at least a little bit of money. I probably put about 100 hours into writing, playtesting, and editing Acts...See more

Hi Aaron, very sorry to hear that but completely understand. The outline and notes would be very much appreciated; maybe I could cobble something together for act 3 for my group based on those. I didn't realize you were also the author of Skullport Encounters; I think that one is great as well. So far my group (currently in Skullport) has encountered the drow, but has not yet visited the Black Tankard or the Worm's Gullet. I hope they do! Your supplement, along with a few others, has gone a long way in helping me flesh out a decent Skullport for my campaign.

Thank you for the compliment! I enjoyed writing and running Skullport Encounters, and I hope you and your players have fun with the encounters. : )

I will work on pulling together the act 3 notes for you, my friend. The content is there, and the story is finished - it just needs some reorganization, clarification in a few sections, and an outline to explain how it all fits together.

I've edited down through page 10 of 14 of the act 3 notes. They're looking pretty good. Getting close!

I finished compiling all 16 pages of the DM quest notes for Menzoberranzan Excursion Act 3: Endgame and have included them along with the Act 2 documents. I finished over Labor Day weekend! I hope you find them useful in providing a grand finale to your campaign in Menzoberranzan. : )

Yeah, thank you, Aaron, for all your quality hard work on all 3 of the Acts of these 2 main books. Especially your added efforts to provide us the bonus Act 3 documentation. I loved this adventure! And so did my 5e group! I also plan on running it again for a future new group. Possibly converted to Pathfinder 1st Edition (I find 5e>PF1 and vice-versa to be relatively easy to convert). I hope your challenging work hours in real life are more to your suiting now. And Happy Holidays!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
