Horrific Herbarium

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Written by a Field Biologist, this supplement contains 14 sinister plants to populate your world. These plants build a punishing wilderness to keep things interesting during the travels between towns, ruins, and dungeons. Gone are the days of time jumps through long walks - your players will learn to fear the wilderness as much as any dragon or lich!

Included within are 14 magical and nonmagical plants, each with unique mechanics and interactions. Will your players fall victim to the vengeweed plant and become unwitting hosts for its seedlings? Or will they unknowingly walk through a poison parsnip patch, only to be wrought with terrible burns when they enter the sunlight? The plants contained herein are unique and terrifying - especially given that some are based on real life species!

The total list of species are:

Vengeweed, Lightwood, Noxious Elm, Baneberry, Poison Parsnip, Giant Hogweed, Lighteater Hawthorn, Tent-Pitcher Plant, Phosphorrel, Dog-Strangling Vine, Nature's Noose, Porcealin Cottonwood, Butterwood, and Suicide Pine.

Even though it is a short document a table of contents is always appreciated as it gives you overview of the document. It could easily fit in the first column of the first page if you don't want a dedicated page for it. I'm also a stickler for details so I couldn't help noticing that the document lacks page numbers. If you're looking to improve the document further may I suggest adding components (and their weights and prices) which could be harvested from these plants? Additionally providing some guidance as to which types of environments these plants grow in would be helpful to DMs integrating them into their worlds.

I spotted a couple of mistakes: You've written "5'" instead of "5 feet" in the description of Lighteater Hawthorn which is inconsistent with the rest of the document.

Also the following typos:
- "species charactierized"
- "grip anytihng"
- "deterity check"
- "parasitice plant"
- "Porcealin...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
