DDAL09-10 Tipping the Scales

Wisdom is knowing when a battle fought is a battle lost. A dragon has engaged in a pitched battle for the soul of his consort for nearly a millennium, and it’s time for him to throw in the towel.
Dara has asked that you venture into the Diremire Pit and convince him of this, as there are greater wars to be won!

A Four to Six Hour Adventure for 5th to 10th Level Characters (APL 8).

Some of the various checks appear to be low. Especially on page 6 Navigating the swamp. I am thinking of dropping the first perception check and making survival only. Page 8 Kesaiash insight is low. And I thinking of making the battle ring (A1) 40 by 40. And as people mention monsters stats are missing.

First, the layout on this is horrible. Inconsistent column and page breaks. This is probably not the authors fault...but seems to be a trend with the S9 mods. Also, it's missing at least one stat block (hellwasps).

Most of this adventure feels like filler. The first half does a great job giving the DM the ability to make the party feel they are journeying across a battletorn crater...but it has little to nothing to do with the actual mission. The second half...I do appreciate that the party is given a choice in how to proceed, one option will take the alloted 115 minutes...the other 15-20 minutes tops. (It would have been great if one of the Bonus Objectives was something that could have been added on afterwards)

The adventure needs threads giving the party more ideas on how to outsmart the devil if they choose that path as opposed to just relying on a single saving throw. The knowledge in Bonus Objective B would have been a start

I also came to comment on the missing hellwasp and ice devil stats. It seems no one proofread this title before publishing it ...

Part 1, A2-4 mentions hellwasps but they are missing from the Creature Statistics
-edited to add that the encounters table on page 6 mentions assassin vines which is also missing from Creature Statistics

Also, it includes the stats of a Catoblepas which isn't even in the adventure.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
