FAQ

I've already purchased one or more of the products in this bundle – do I still have to pay full price for the bundle?

Nope! We've created another bundle which also contains each of individual DM's Resources published on the DM's Guild, while not charging you for any DM's Resources you've already bought. The content in these two bundles is nearly identical – the only difference is, that the other bundle by necessity has the five chapters separated, while this bundle has all five chapters merged into a single document, which allows us to trim some repetitious parts and make content more organized. However, we promise that you'll not miss anything by buying the other bundle!

Why would I spend 14.95$ on additional content for a campaign book I've already purchased?

That's a valid question. There's several ways to think about it. First, there's the hours of preparation time the products will help you save. If you save just one hour per session, you're probably paying less than a 1 dollar for each hour saved! Second, there's the amount of extra content you get – maps, encounters, quests – and the extra enjoyment and excitement that can bring to your D&D game. In the end, however, it's up to you. If you don't feel like buying everything at once, you can always just buy the individual products you think you'll get the most use out of.

Is there any content in here that I wouldn't get if I bought each product individually?

Nope – this bundle includes only the content in each of the published DM's Resources. If we update individual products, we'll also update this bundle.

How will I know if you add new products to this bundle, or publish new products?

This may be user error, but I can’t seem to find the second bundle mentioned in the FAQ. I bought the first product included in this bundle back before this bundle came out as far as I can tell and I’m running this module again and am considering purchasing your whole bundle since I found the first useful. I know it wouldn’t make much of a price difference anyway, but since I have already purchased one I figured I’d get the second one. I’m wondering if I’m missing something. I’d recommend putting a link to it in the description where you mention it in the FAQ section. Either way, thanks in advance for your help and thanks for putting out quality products!

Hi Luke!

We do link to the secondary bundle in the F.A.Q, but it wouldn't surprise me if by some technical error or glitch it doesn't show up for everyone. Here's a direct link you can copy paste into your browser: https://www.dmsguild.com/product/294700/Baldurs-Gate-DMs-Resources-BUNDLE :)

If you're only looking for resources for Chapter 2: Elturel, you can find that here: https://www.dmsguild.com/product/290303/ :)

Is there a DMs Cheatsheet for any chapter besides 2 and 4?

Hi Joey

At the moment, there's only cheatsheets for Chapters 2 and 4 – it didn't really make sense for the more open chapters like 3 and 5. I hope that you still get some good use out of it! :)

Best regards,

Any chance you could adapt this to FG (Fantasy Grounds)?

Are the encounter maps like dungeon tiles so I can assemble it while the players explore (for the sake of mystery) or it is more like a big battle map that I should print and cut if I want to hide a few parts from them?
Thanks in advance

It's a big battlemap, so you would have to print and cut, if you want to hide parts. I hope that's still usable, but understand if it doesn't quite fill your needs. Thanks for showing interest regardless! :)

Thank you for your reply, are these meant to be printed out on A4 or A3? as i would want to print it out on an A3 piece of paper

They can be printed as both. I usually recommend using software like https://posterazor.sourceforge.io/, which can help you set up the maps the way you need them :)

Hi, It says for virtual tabletops, does that mean i cant print them out for use IRL?
Is this whole package mostly for online D&D?

Hi Ryan

The maps are primed for virtual tabletops – 150 PPI, small file-size – but can certainly, and have been, printed out. I don't print too many maps myself, but I'll be happy to offer whatever assistance I can :).

The rest of the bundle works just as well offline as online, and even comes in a printer friendly version so you can easily bring a physical copy to the table :)

Are the maps available in PDF or JPEG, so I can print them.

Hi Georges

The maps are in JPG – would PDF be a better format for you? If so, I can try and see what I can do :)

Is there now a pdf version of the maps? I would appreciate it. Our group is at a physical table and we are fortunate enough to have a member with a plotter. LOL

There quickly could be, I just need to be sure, I understand, exactly how you need them. Is it because it's easier to print out, when they're put up in PDF instead of JPEG? If so, I presume it's the player maps that you would want in a PDF - would that be correct? :)

Any chance of a Fantasy Grounds VTT version? The VTT bundle you did for Dragon Heist really made the campaign MUCH more enjoyable for my group and I’ll be running DiA in a couple of months. I’d love to be able to use this in Fantasy Grounds as well!

Hi Rondy!

I'm currently considering the prospect, but I'm still adding more stuff to the bundle at this point, so I don't want to convert too early. Hopefully I can make it happen within a couple of months! :)

Hello,

In the first chapter's webpage, it says that it will provide advice on scaling difficulty. What is the scale for the difficulty? Is it the number of party members or the overall level of the party? Also, is the difficulty scaling advice part of every chapter's resources?
Customer avatar
Eventyr G December 13, 2019 8:03 am UTC
CREATOR
Good question!

Throughout the resources, we try to analyze encounters and give advice on what seems very easy/very hard, as well as how to balance encounters both before and during the session. It's not formalized – i.e. if you have a party of four 5th-level adventurers, use X monsters – because we find that each group is very different in terms of power. Instead we try to pinpoint encounters that seem to need additional balancing, and then offer advice on how to do that (such as 'if your party is having difficulties, you can do X to give them a better chance, or if it's too easy, add X to the encounter). I think there's resources on the web that actually go through scaling each encounter individually, though, but that's not exactly what we provide here :)

Hi Kenneth

That's an unfortunate mistake – it's a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw. We'll have a corrected version up within the next 24 hours. Thanks for pointing it out! :)

Hi Jan!

It's magic items and handouts, not magic item handouts – although I can see how it can be confusing. The magic items are found in the document, on pages 3, 15 and 16 respectively. I hope you still find the download to your liking – otherwise you can shoot us an email at valeurrpg@gmail.com, and we'll do our best to rectify things :)

LOVE LOVE LOVE the compiled statblocks PDFs. Those alone are worth the price.

Is there a "C1_-_DMs_Cheatsheet.pdf"?

Hi Mike

Thanks a bunch for that, really happy you like them!

Unfortunately not – at 50+ pages, making a DM's cheatsheet (which it seems only some of our buyers actually use) for Chapter 1 just wasn't feasible at the time we published the first chapter. However, I hope to be able to turn back around and get the cheatsheet made, if the demand is there (they'll be included for free then, of course!) :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
