Monster Manual Expanded II is the sequel to the ADAMANTINE-best-selling Monster Manual Expanded.  Just like the first book, this aims to provide Dungeon Masters more options and flexibility in designing adventures and dressing up their dungeons with a wider variety of creatures and characters that are based on the Monster Manual, Volo's Guide to Monsters, Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, and many others.  Finally, it also adds variants that provide a nostalgic and classic feel that DMs experienced with the older editions are probably familiar with.

Lolth. Asmodeus. Mephistopheles.  Just a few of the many iconic characters and creatures you can find in here.  In total, there are over 390 creature stat blocks in this book at the Dungeon Master's disposal!

I don't know if it was already addressed somewhere else and I just didn't see it, but since I wouldn't know where to look, I'm asking here:

It seems as though the price went up (I believe the POD used to be $60). Why did this happen and will the price be going back down?

Hi Jerry. The price increase was a site-wide increase for all print-on-demand products from DrivethruRPG and DM's Guild, which was implemented July 1. There was an email sent by the company to publishers but I don't have a copy. I have no idea if they will eventually lower the price again but the change was due to a shift in printing system.

I am working on a standard print (soft cover) but that will take some time (probably early next year).

Fantastic Book, but I have a few comments on version 1.13. I love the changes made to the Ancient Elder Brain; however, there are a few oddities.

1. The creature sense has decreased from 5 miles with the standard EB to 2 miles with the elder version
2. The Mind Blast ability has been changed from a sphere centred on the EB to a cone
3. Despite the elder brain now being Huge, it can only grapple huge or smaller. In general, you can grapple a creature one larger

Love the content, and I cannot wait for MME3!

Thank you Hugo. I'll look into these and apply the necessary changes once we are done with the launch of MME3.

First off id like to say I have both of these books and they are amazing. The love that has gone into them is visible for all to see. I was wondering as a new adventure writer looking to publish on the dmsguild I wanted to use your Monsters to help me add more variety to my adventures. I am happy to include credits within the adventure to allow people to find you books. I wanted to DM you but couldn't find a email to get in touch directly.

got my print of MME the other day delivered all the way to brisbane Australia, so impressed and happy with it that I just bought the expanded 11 ....
really worth the price and delivery fee to australia and was happy it made it to me in under 2 weeks!
hopefully number two gets here just as fast and in as good condition as the first...
(would be nice to have it bubble wraped inside its packaging as it arrived a bit dog eared from travelling all the way to australia and I like my books pristine. )

A little disappointed that the first creature I used had errors. Does not provide much faith for the rest of the book.

Barghest Whelp - Perception +4 but Passive Perception 15. Also Innate spell casting save DC 15 with a Charisma score of 12

I bought both MME1 and MME2 as hardcover and they're really great.
I'm eager to see MME3 later this year.

If I can make a suggestion, we're missing demodands (inhabitants of Carceri) in 5E.

Thank you Samuel! Although the demodands won't be appearing in MME3, they'll definitely be in the 4th one.

Are you planning to provided an errata pdf as a separate file for those of us with the PoD hardcover, or do we have to download the entire book pdf and compare line-by-line?
Customer avatar
Dragonix M February 13, 2021 11:06 pm UTC
CREATOR
Hi Neal. I'll create an errata pdf for both books once I've completed MME3.
In the meantime, you can check the latest version (v1.12) updates in the comments below. That shows a list of the changes done.

I purchased the hardback of the books, and man do I love these montsers!
Thank you so much for going the extra mile for the community.

Have you ever thought about selling these as books on the two VTT? Personally, I would buy them again on my VTT just to save me the time of having to find artwork, making the character sheets, etc.

Happy to hear that MMEIII is coming out soon!

You are most welcome, Danielle!

As per our license agreement with DM's Guild, we can only sell the books (and their other format) through DM's Guild. The only VTT we can support currently is Fantasy Grounds. All of our books already have FG formats and are available in DM's Guild. Hope that helps! :)

This manual and the first manual are great additions to my collection. also the variation has allowed me to expand what monsters I'm using in my game.
I bought the physical editions of them, well made and the drawings within are vibrant. Well worth the purchase.

Hey Dragonix,
I decided to homebrew a godlike version of Auril to extend my game of RotF similar to the ending of Tyranny of Dragons. As the final session starting in a week with my five lvl 14 PCs, are there any recommendations on how to use the monster and to make it easier for my PCs : any debuffs that I should consider?

Auril
Medium Elemental (Lesser Deity), Neutral Evil
Armor Class : 22 (Natural Armor)
Hit Points : 450 (30d12 + 240)
Speed : 50 ft, fly 30 ft
Strength : 24 (+7) Dexterity : 20 (+5) Constitution : 26 (+8) Intelligence : 24 (+7) Wisdom : 26 (+8) Charisma : 28 (+9)
Saving Throws : Str + 16 Dex + 14 Con + 17 Int + 16 Wis + 17 Cha + 19
Skills : Deception + 15, Insight + 14, Intimidation + 14, Perception + 16
Damage Resistances : acid, fire, radiant, necrotic, force,
Damage Immunities : cold, poison, bludgeoning piercing and slashing damage from non magical attacks
Condition Immunities : charmed, exhaustion, frightened,...See more

I think you already have enough debuffs on this potent version of Auril. I'd say she is already too powerful. If you want to make her weaker, I'd say reduce her melee damage output to reduce the chances of her killing one character per round.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
