Monster Manual Expanded II is the sequel to the MITHRAL-best selling Monster Manual Expanded.  Just like the first book, this aims to provide Dungeon Masters more options and flexibility in designing adventures and dressing up their dungeons with a wider variety of creatures and characters that are based on the Monster Manual, Volo's Guide to Monsters, Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, and many others.  Finally, it also adds variants that provide a nostalgic and classic feel that DMs experienced with the older editions are probably familiar with.

Lolth. Asmodeus. Mephistopheles.  Just a few of the many iconic characters and creatures you can find in here.  In total, there are over 390 creature stat blocks in this book at the Dungeon Master's disposal!

Hi Zachary. You can reach out directly to the DM's Guild about your orders here: https://support.dmsguild.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

As an additional note, please check the Covid-19 update they have at the top of the page. Here's the direct link: https://medium.com/oneblogshelf/covid-19-update-from-onebookshelf-64f426297dd8

Seems kind of cheap to charge full price for the PDF if you're buying the POD. Most publishers give the PDF for free when you buy print. The only ones that don't that I know of is White Wolf/Onyx Publishing. And even they only charge $5.00 for it.

If I purchase the hardcover do I also get the pdf?
Customer avatar
Dragonix M May 10, 2020 12:56 am UTC
CREATOR
Hi Dana. No, but there's a third option where you can buy both the PDF and the Hardcover. You can save a $1. Normally, if there was no site-wide promo, you would have saved $5.

Excuse me, but shouldn’t some of the legendary-themed monsters have lair actions? I know not all creatures have the capability for that, but I would expect some (such as the archdevils) would have that option, as their lairs are detailed in the Wotc books.
Customer avatar
Dragonix M May 08, 2020 3:06 am UTC
CREATOR
They should, yes. I just decided, out of space and time considerations, to leave those details to the Dungeon Master. I opted for more creature stats instead. If every legendary creature had lair actions, I would have included them.

:) You should creat a Lair Actions Compendium!!!

Love this books!

Yeah, I try to include boss enemies with lair actions as often as I can, and including a compendium with misc lair actions could help with easier customization for NPCs/regular old monsters that would usually not have that option.

The Yuan-Ti Spy has the shapechanger subtype but does not have the Shapechanger ability. It is one of the few yuan-ti not to have that ability. This feels like an oversight but if it isn't I'm curious about the design decision.

The description of the Blackspawn Stalker on page 101 lists it as the Blackpawn Stalker.

The Drow Lolth's Sting on page 122 has Unarmored Defense but its Armor Class lists it as wearing studded leather. I believe the intent was for the Drow Lolth's Sting to be wearing no armor.

Thanks Michael! The Yuan-Ti spy was indeed an oversight. Should have just been a humanoid. Drow definitely should be just unarmored, not studded leather. Good catches. Will fix the pdf in the next update.

- Added table of contents with page numbers
- Added CR list with page numbers
- Lots of layout improvements

I was looking through it earlier, and noticed in the Table of Contents, you have the Greater Trapper listed under the Tortles and the Xvart Cutthroat listed under the Wood Woads. Both look like they were accidentally moved up a spot into the preceding entry in the table.

I did a more extensive search of the Table of Contents for this and for the original MME and found a few more - in this one, the Monstrous Cave Fisher and Hobgoblin Bladebearer are also under the wrong group (under Catoblepas and Headless Horseman respectively). I'll post the original MME ones on that page.

The update is yes, it will be available in PoD. It's the when that I can't give you an update on though. It's a longer process than I thought. Don't expect it anytime soon.

Guys, I'd like to ask a favor. I'm looking for a couple more written reviews that I might add to the "praise for the book" intro section. If you really liked the product, I am imploring you to please provide a written review if you can find the time. There's a reason for this, and it's exciting news. I'll share it with you pretty soon. )

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
