The 12 Days of Midwinter is a collection of Dungeons & Dragons adventures inspired by the mythology, traditions, and lore of the Winter season. This collection features ~200 pages of adventures designed for every Tier of play, for characters between levels 1 and 20.

Each of the twelve adventures is a setting-agnostic one-shot, which can be run as a stand-alone adventure or dropped into a preexisting campaign. The adventures in this anthology are not related to one another but, with a bit of ingenuity and DM-discretion, could be combined into a festively epic campaign.

Adventures Include:

  • The Unveiling (A Dark Fiend in a Rare Shield), by Josh Parry
  • Misfits (Two Teddy Terrors), by Dr. Kelly Lane
  • The Burgomaster's Gift (Three Ales Too Many), by Adam Scaramella
  • The Evergreen Court (Four Flippant Fey), by Alette Smith
  • Heart of Gold (Five Golden Rings), by Celeste Conowitch
  • Deadwinter Run (Six Kisses from Auril), Andrew Morley
  • Mayhem At Midwinter (Seven Swans To Slaughter), by Andy Dempz
  • Be Good For Goodness' Sake (Eight Naughty Children), by David Harmon
  • Flight of the Nutcracker (Nine Fairies Flocking), by Jacky Leung
  • What Past We Keep (Ten Knights Retreating), by Ethan Yen
  • Silken Doppleganger (Eleven Spiders Spinning), by Joe Avery
  • Divine Ice & Holy Fire (Twelve Frozen Halflings), by Emily Smith

Additional Content Includes:

  • Wintery Wild Magic
  • Festive Magic Items
  • Seasonal Trinkets

Each adventure features a custom full-page illustration from one of many talented artists: Anne-Dorthe Seberg Hansen, Gwen Bassett, Amanda Franck, Jennifer Peig, Wouter Florusse, Zeshio, Alison Huang, Anthony Alipio, Xan Larson, David Markiwsky, Emily Smith

With Additional Art from Kelly Brown and DW Dagon

Any chance you could adapt this to FG (Fantasy Grounds)?

Just bought this for use in a holiday one shot, using the 12th adventure (Divine Ice & Holy Fire). I've got mixed reviews to leave.

Overall, it was a lot of fun. It gives a solid framework for a one-shot, with a fun plot hook to get things rolling. My players loved the concept of high level adventurers going off to literally save Santa Clause, and each step along this journey was satisfying.

But I have a few complaints to report as well.

There are a good number of typos and errors. There are monster abilities that reference "retrying the saving throw" when no actual saving throw is mentioned. Names are changed back and forth (Nikolai -> Nicholas), or sometimes just the wrong name is used (where context makes it very obvious, such as in the middle of a stat block). Stat blocks also have mislabeled sections (e.g. "Perception +6" under the "Saving Throws" section, etc.).

What's more, a major element of the adventure is...See more

Hi Jacob! Thanks for taking the time to leave your comments.

**SPOILERS**

The Maze Engine mechanics are utilized for the Chronomancy Engine, as they are both "Orderers" made for the same purpose (with some light reflavoring to make this one more wintery-themed). It is possible that players who have played OOtA will have encountered a machine of this type before. I'm sorry to hear about some of the editing issues, and am glad that you were able to make sense of the adventure's intentions in spite of them.

Most of all, I'm glad that you and your table were able to have fun with the adventure! Hopefully you'll be able to enjoy some of the 11 other adventures in the book in the new year.

Hi, I just purchased the PDF version of the collection. I was reading through the first adventure, The Unveiling, and it looks like the third episode "Removing the Veil" is missing. Am I just overlooking it?

Hi Scott! There is no 3rd part that is missing- the adventure was originally designed to include a 3rd part, which was merged into the 2nd part during the wiring process. We just missed/failed to remove the references during editing. Thanks for checking and hope you enjoy the product!

Each of the adventures is between 2-6 hours long. There are 2 tier 3 adventures (lvl 11-16) and 1 tier 4 adventure (lvl 17-20)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
