{OAP} Outlandish Afflictions

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Outlandish Adventure Productions presents:

Outlandish Afflictions, two new Metamorphosis paths and six new Accursed Afflictions for OAP's Accursed Class!

Metamorphosis Paths

Suppression: Make more and easier use of your ability to suppress the debilitating effects of your ailments!

Anathema: Use your curse magic to shut down spells affecting you and your allies!

Accursed Afflictions

Curse of Combustion: You were afflicted with a fire that burns you from the inside out, and that was supposed to eventually cause you to explode before you learned to channel and release your raging inferno. Harnessing your curse, you create controlled explosions to watch your foes burn!

Curse of the Hunted: You were made to be constantly preyed upon by the beasts and monsters of the multiverse, never to feel safe again until you realized that your curse causes aggression. Harnessing your curse, you summon creatures to hunt your enemies, which then turn on you when the fighting is done!

Curse of Immortality: You were cursed to always come back when you died and never to age, ensuring you could never have permanent rest. Harnessing your curse's restorative properties you can heal your allies, and can use the knowledge and wisdom you've gained from all the lifetimes you've lived to recall old talents!

Curse of Invisibility: Your visage and appearance were stolen from you, making even you unable to see yourself until you learned that your curse bends light. Harnessing your curse, you dodge attacks and exploit the weaknesses in your foes' defenses!

Curse of Petrification: You were once permanently turned to stone before you regained awareness and found a way to return to flesh. Harnessing your curse, you can enter a stone form that allows you to barrel through your foes!

Curse of Plague: You were afflicted with a magical disease that nearly killed you before you found a way to stop and control its spread. Harnessing your curse, you develop and contract other magical diseases with which you can infect your enemies!

We hope you love these new curses and our Accursed Class as much as we and our players do! We’d love to hear your feedback, so please send us any questions or comments you have. Also, if you perceive any balance issues, please let us know and we will address them as quickly as we can.

Hello! Bought this class recently, my players and I love it. Small question, for Selfish Anathema; it says "As an action, you can attempt to free yourself from a shell's effects.". I assume you meant spell, from context clues, but I wanted to make sure.

Hi Thony! So glad you and your players are enjoying the Accursed and all of its subclasses!

You're completely correct, and that typo will be corrected in the Accursed Remaster coming soon(TM)

Maybe you should try to make the curse of the mad next?

What about curse of the husk (where you have no soul), curse of the hive (there is a swarm of insects living inside you) or curse of the doll (where you have a voodoo doll of yourself that someone made)

Hi, Quinn! Thank you so much for the suggestions!

I really like the idea of Curse of the Hive, and will be adding it to my list of possibilities for future subclasses!

I doubt I'll be using the others, though, and I wanted to take the time to explain why, starting with the Curse of the Mad:
5e's short-term and long-term madness rules have some problematic parallels with real-world mental illness, and I don't wish to add to that stigma, especially as a person who has my own struggles with anxiety and depression. Also, the idea that you could overcome and take control of your mental illness by potentially just being stubborn enough is not a message I want to put out into the world.

Curse of the Husk also borders on a real-world parallel a little to closely for my liking, which is the concept that people with red hair or of different cultures/religions don't have souls. These concepts have been used to persecute, enslave, and slaughter people throughout most of human history,...See more

yeah no problem, I totally understand. I had thought that curse of the mad might be a bit problematic and it make sense why you would be reserved about doing the other ideas. really cool that you liked curse of the hive though!

thanks, Quinn

Does the immortal revive if Disintegrated, zombiefied, or otherwise?

Hi, Michael!

Yes, their curse drags them back to life no matter the circumstances, even if it has to create an entirely new body for them. I would rule that nothing short of a Wish spell or potentially a specific condition set by the DM could stop this from happening.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
