The Dead Refuse To Rest!

Do your players know all the canon undead by heart? Does facing wights or zombies no longer give pause before plunging into the fray? Looking for new undead to help create an atmosphere of mystery and horror?

The Unquiet Dead offers DMs:

  • Ten new undead monsters and one “boss”/high level undead entity:
    • The eye of fear and flame and the coffer corpse, updated for 5E
    • Eight original undead monsters, including the dirge, the ghost kraken, and four zombie variants, ready to instill horror and present new challenges for your players
    • The king of the dead, a terrifying new intelligent undead, ready to have you build an adventure or even campaign around
  • Suggested placement and tactics for each undead monster
  • CR ranges from 1/2 to 16!
  • NEW! A chilling, challenging dungeon crawl centered on these new monsters.

The supplement can be downloaded as the full/illustrated version or a print-friendly version.

NOTE: original full color file was not working for everyone. I've uploaded an update, version 1.5, which should fix those problems.

New Content!

In gratitude to the more than 1,000 downloads this supplement has had, I've created a short dungeon crawl centered on these new undead.  The Tomb of the King of the Dead has 13 keyed encounter areas to give Tier 3 characters a chilling challenge.

Good afternoon. I have downloaded your product and was wondering about some of the statblocks. It seems as though there are a few typos and miscalculations in them, and was wondering if you knew about them before publishing the full pdf's. I still enjoy the statblocks, but I was just wondering since I plan on using this pdf and its creatures against my players in my next D&D session.

Any chance you could adapt this to FG (Fantasy Grounds)?

Robert:

Apologies for the very late response. At this time, I don't have any plans for adapting my thus-published works to FG. (To be honest, I don't know how to do so.) I'm open to the idea if it's not a difficult conversion.

I just scrolled through it. Awesome work by the way. I think I found a spelling error in the Eye of Fear and Flame statblock.
"Astral Escape. The eye can flee, translating itself to the Astral Plane." Did you mean "transporting" by any chance?

Patrick: Not an error but perhaps not the most accurate word choice. "Transporting" is probably a better word, and closer to what is meant.

I just downloaded the Full Color version and none of the creature's abilities such as STR, DEX, CON nor base stats like HP, Speed etc are visible in the stat blocks, although in the print friendly version they are visible. I hope this helps!

Maxwell, I just tested it and the full color version displays everything for me. Are you using an older version of Acrobat? Also, it's a large file, and it takes a second or two for everything to load on your screen. If you continue to have problems with the full color version, please let me know.

OK. I'll take a look at the file. Will hopefully post a corrected version in a day or two.

Jonathon: check version 1.5 of the full color edition. This should correct those "disappearing" content problems.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
