What Lies Within This Book?

Brought to you by the minds behind the Mithral best selling 100 Monster Hunts, The Greasemonkey's Handbook, and Here’s To Crime, Monster Hunts: Halloween is a collection of ten horror themed monster hunts,
inspired by 80s pulp fiction film, 90s cartoons and modern day horrors, designed for adventuring tiers 1 and 2. This supplement is designed with minimal prep time and is setting neutral, so can be dropped into any
campaign setting, be them fantasy rich epics, city focused adventures, or a homebrew campaign of your own design. Each hunt is expected to take 1 - 2 sessions to complete, depending on the speed of your party and storytelling style.

In this book, you will find:

  • A collection of 10 unique and wonderful monster themed quests, drawn from 80s, 90s and modern day horror, both supernatural and sci fi!
  • A 30 page, full colour adventure book, with maps for each individual hunt, prepped and ready to go.
  • 11 brand new magical item rewards, earned from carving up monsters and exploring mysterious dungeons!
  • Over 40 hours of Dungeons and Dragons content (and probably more if your players are as slow as mine!)
  • 2 random tables, divided by adventuring tier, for quick and easy hunt generation.
  • A new vehicle statblock, created using the Greasemonkey's Handbook: The Comprehensive Guide to Mech Construction in D&D5e.
  • Many high - risk hunts, offering a variety of challenges, both roleplay and combat.
  • Minimal prep time - pick a hunt, grab your books and get right to it.
  • An easy to use hunting system, revamping the original 100 Monster Hunts system into a bigger, more fleshed out adventure book while retaining ease of play.
  • A print friendly version, removing that pesky background!
  • A super compressed 5mb version, for DMs on the go!

I love this book. Several quick and easy adventures that have a slightly spooky theme. The structure of each "hunt" is laid out well allowing a DM in a rush to quickly insert the hunt into a campaign or run as a last minute one-off, or add a bit of impromptu spice into a session. Each adventure comes with a well-drawn map that can also be a player hand out. Although there are a lot of "hunts" that I'll probably use, my absolute favourite is "meddling kids" - a perfect halloween one off adventure.

Rules Edition(s)
Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
