Weekend at Strahd’s

Experience this totally wicked two-hour adventure for 3-6 characters levels 5-10 from the fantabulous minds of Anthony Joyce and Oliver Clegg!

Whoa! You’ve just killed Strahd but his body remains?! How can this be?! Lead your party on a retro journey through Castle Ravenloft to collect five pieces of a powerful artifact known as the Pentaforce to summon a powerful entity that can put an end to Strahd’s reign once and for all!

Experience the rad music of the 1980’s as it guides you from room to room, confronting horrors like the Brunch Club, Ghost Hunters, thrilling zombies, Ricky Roll, the Loonies, Prom (Barovian Winter Fantasy ‘86), a flash-dance off with hags, aerobics with undead, Jeremy Krawfjord, Kris Purkens, and much more!

This 1980’s inspired PDF is professionally designed and illustrated by Gordon McAlpin (Creator of Death by Goblins!). Inside you’ll find hyperlinks to each creature and their stat blocks on D&D Beyond accessible for free! This PDF also includes hyperlinks to a curated “Weekend at Strahd’s” playlist on Spotify so you can wow your players and relive the epic music of the 1980’s as you put an end to the reign of Strahd von Zarovich!

This adventure does not require players to have played Curse of Strahd, nor does it spoil anything in Curse of Strahd. This adventure is designed to play casually as a one shot in a tubular party atmosphere, it’s soooo bodacious.

P.S. One player plays as Strahd’s corpse...yes, you read that correctly...one lucky player gets to play the entire time as the corpse of Strahd! Oh, and the player that dies the most wins a crayon drawing of Frankenstein Ronald Reagan. Enjoy!

Honest reviews and ratings are greatly appreciated!

I just downloaded the PDF and the last page is Appendix A which means means it is missing the map and NPCs. Is anyone else having this problem?

You beat me to it! I hope you still enjoy the adventure. The adventure was purposefully designed around theater of the mind but the CoS maps can be used as well. I believe there are map packs for sale here on DMSGUILD too of Castle Ravenloft.

I noticed a few things while prepping this that I thought should be mentioned to people looking to purchase this or to the creators. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot in here that I like, but these things listed below have been stumbling blocks for me:

First, there should be a compelling reason to need Strahd's corpse to follow you around. One suggestion would be that perhaps the rooms are magically inaccessible without him nearby? Or better yet Pidlwick II could tell you that most of the other denizens of the castle would attack the NPCs on sight as trespassers unless Strahd is with them? Considering how this is built on the Weekend at Bernie's concept, the adventure never really puts you in a situation where you have to convince anyone that Strahd isn't basically half-dead now. It never really leans into the conceit of the parody. I wish the module tied this in better or gave even a few suggestions on how/why to convey this to your players.

Two, the adventure says you'll need the map...See more

This was tons of fun, I just wanted to share that maybe you should warn your players not to mix dairy with acidic ingredients for the New Koke. My homebrewed tepache simply did not agree with another player's muscle milk.

A lot of laughing and fun was had! Everyone enjoyed! As the DM, this was a lot of fun to run. I love that y'all put the links for the music and monsters in the pdf. Unfortunately, my tablet couldn't keep up. Live and learn. Next time I'll print it and I have the song list on Spoofy. Well write and realized, gents!

Strahd is just limited in that he can't talk, correct? If a check needs to be made or combat breaks out, the player controlling Strahd can participate in those? Likewise does the player controlling Strahd have access to all their powers, i.e. Spellcasting, Legendary Resistances, etc?

Strahd has access to whatever stat block you end up using. Not talking is just to be silly and act like a game of charades. Whatever works best for you and your group I recommend you go with.

Isn't playing a corpse going to be really boring?

The corpse uses Vampire or Strahd’s stat block, they have many things they can do. Except, they cannot talk. Think of it as charades or imagine the movie, “Weekend at Bernie’s,” that’s the flavor we are going for. Certainly isn’t boring if you’re group is up for good laughs and doesn’t take itself seriously.

Hmmmm, strange. It seems this change occurred on Spotify’s end. I’ll try to get the hyperlink updated soon. However I’ll go ahead and manually add the correct track to the playlist for now. Thanks!

Does this really not spoil anything for CoS? Because glancing over it, it looks like it totally does.

While the adventure uses the names of characters featured in Curse of Strahd, and we made each location one from Castle Ravenloft, none of the rooms or NPCs are actually revealing anything from CoS. In other words the rooms and NPCs are original and wouldn’t reveal anything that would spoil a surprise in CoS, unless you consider the NPC names and locations, spoilers. Hope this helps.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
