The Knight Librarians - Fighter Subclass

The Knight Librarians is a new fighter subclass option for Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition.

It is thought that Ioun, himself, inspired the creation of the Knight Librarians...enhancing their physical prowess with limited divine abilities.

Whatever their true origins, these literary warriors are now known for building libraries -- bastions against ignorance, great and small -- in every village and city they pass through. They are also fierce champions of community; defenders against the Darkness.

Along with a new subclass that allows you to embrace you inner bookworm, this subclass includes:

  • A specific list of spells unique to the Knight Librarians taken from the library of over 400 spells in Dungeons & Dragons
  • Two new spells created exclusively for this subclass
  • New Artisan's Tools (Scholar's Tools) to help you highlight your character's talents in the written arts even further

In the spirit of full disclosure, I was provided a review copy of this supplement for a full and honest review. You had me a book fighter and the beautiful art by @missalppy! (more on that later) Also, Knight Librarian just sounds so damn cool! [...]

The first thing this class made me think of was The Librarian - the slightly spoofy movie series staring Noah Wiley and Bob Newhart which eventually got a TV show on TNT - and that made me so so happy! But it also played to something which I [...]

wonderful subclass and the new spells are SUPER cool! Also fabulous artwork. Cant wait to build a character and give this a good run; looking forward to a big bookish nerd traversing dangerous dungeons for lost books. Or maybe a pilgrim traversing the [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
