This is a Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition supplement, filled with 24 high-quality quests for characters of all levels, drawn
from the new creatures arriving in Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus, and written by 2 Mithril bestselling authors.

What Lies Within This Book?

So, your party has finally arrived at their next destination, only to immediately dart into the nearest tavern, get drunk, start a fist-fight with the locals,
and then decide to derail your carefully crafted plot further by looking for quick bounties to wet their whistle on..which, of course, you haven’t had time to prepare for!

Perhaps you, as Dungeon Master, have a player missing from the table, and need a quick one shot bounty to keep the rest of your player’s dice roll requirements sated until their illustrious return the following week?
Or, perhaps you’ve just picked up Baldur’s Gate: Descent Into Avernus, only to discover you can’t find a way to quickly drop all those fabulous new devils and demons into your homebrew campaign...
Whatever your dilemma, Monster Hunts: Avernus is here to help!

Brought to you by the minds behind the Mithral best selling 100 Monster Hunts, The Greasemonkey's Handbook, and Here’s To Crime, Monster Hunts: Avernus offers a way to
integrate each fiendish foe found in Baldur’s Gate: Descent Into Avernus into your conventional D&D games, be them fantasy rich epics, city focused adventures, or a homebrew campaign of your own design.

In this book, you will find:

  • A collection of 24 unique and wonderful monster themed quests, from bizaare combats with far too many chickens to taking on Tiamat herself!
  • A 60 page, full colour adventure book, with maps for each individual hunt, prepped and ready to go.
  • 20 brand new magical item rewards, earned from carving up monsters and beating up devils!
  • Craft the pox ridden Bulezau Hide armor, or question your sanity with Gilden Ramses' Infernal Cookbook!
  • 2 new monster hunting NPC stat blocks to quickly inject into your campaigns.
  • Over 96 hours of Dungeons and Dragons content (and probably more if your players are as slow as mine!)
  • 4 random tables, divided by adventuring tier, for quick and easy hunt generation.
  • A new vehicle statblock, created using the Greasemonkey's Handbook: The Comprehensive Guide to Mech Construction in D&D5e.
  • Many high - risk hunts, offering a variety of challenges, both roleplay and combat.
  • Minimal prep time - pick a hunt, grab your books and get right to it.
  • An easy to use hunting system, revamping the original 100 Monster Hunts system into a bigger, more fleshed out adventure book while retaining ease of play.
  • A print friendly version, removing that pesky background is also available!

An important note for any purchasers - this book isn't a good supplement for a Descent into Avernus campaign. All of the monster hunts are set in generic fantasy land - so locations like the Sword Coast. They are not set *in* Avernus, and none of the hunt descriptions are a good fit for hunts set in Hell.

There is a single Hunt where the players go to Avernus, but they specifically start and end on the Prime Material Plane, are working *for* Zariel, and can only spend a single hour in Avernus. Looking through, there are two others that might be able to be set in Avernus without changing the entire thing (basically changing the start/end); all others are much more tied to being in the Prime Material Plane.

It's a fine supplement if you want a story of hunting Devils in the Prime Material Plane - say, a campaign like the Supernatural TV series - but it doesn't provide any real benefit for someone running Descent into Avernus itself.

Hi Jeffrey, thanks for the feedback!

As mentioned in the description, this supplement is designed to bring the monsters found in Descent into Avernus to other D&D fantasy, homebrew and nonspecific campaigns, or games that are already running in another setting and want to start the path towards the Descent into Avernus storyline. We tried to ensure each hunt could be tweaked with minimal edits (such as a simple location change or NPC swap)m so they could be applied to as many different styles of game as possible while retaining their core narratives. Apologies for any confusion caused, and it's lovely to hear you're thoughts on how we can improve other Monster Hunts supplements in the future!

Loving the amount of detail in this, i just have 1 question. Where are the locations for this? Is it based around specific locations in the sword coast/ Avernus or are they names of places that could be added to any campaign?

Hi David, thanks for the kind words!
The book is designed to have the quests dropped into any setting or campaign, and as such are as setting-neutral as possible. :)

I'm glad you think so! :)
We decided not to simply use areas limited to Avernus so everyone could utilize the adventures, both as a means to introduce Descent Into Avernus into their games, and for some one-off bounties in between major story arcs.
Keep your eyes out this year as I've got a few more on the way as well!
Thanks for your support! <3

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
