Now Updated and Expanded! (see below)

Archduchess Zariel and Bel the Warlord vie for supremacy in Avernus against the backdrop of the Blood War raging across the Nine Hells of Baator! This supplement contains everything you need to bind yourself to either of these two fiends as your warlock patron. For use with the 5th Edition of Dungeons & Dragons. Within you'll find:

  • Complete warlock patron customization options, tables, and lore
  • 8 new eldritch invocations
  • New archdevil charms and customized penalties for breach of infernal contracts
  • NPC stat blocks representing warlocks of Zariel and Bel
  • 3 new fiendish monster stat blocks for creatures that double as warlock familiars

If you're looking for a way to give your Hell-bound warlock a distinctive flair, download this supplement today...

But wait! There's more!

Copper badge

As promised, when this supplement gained Copper bestseller status, it was updated and expanded to include a new patron.

  • The demon lord Kostchtchie, Prince of Wrath, is revered among frost giants and was recently imprisoned on Avernus by Archduchess Zariel. Now you can make your warlock pact with Kostchthchie and help plot his demonic vengeance. Includes customization options, tables, lore, new eldritch invocations, and more!
Silver badge

Upon gaining Silver bestseller status, another two patrons were added.

  • Jaqon, the Exiled Duke, was once Asmodeus's appointed herald but was exiled to Avernus and had his true name changed to Dagon as punishment for his misdeeds. Make your warlock pact with this archdevil, who was first introduced in Ed Greenwood's "Nine Hells Revisited" in Dragon 91.
  • Tiamat, Queen of Evil Dragons, needs no introduction! Now you can also make your warlock pact with this goddess-fiend of Avernus.
  • Each new patron includes customization options, lore, new eldritch invocations, unique familiars, and more!
Electrum badge

Now that it has gained Electrum bestseller status, two more new patrons have been added.

  • Charon, The Ferryman, is the altroloth boatman of the River Styx. Make your warlock pact with this yugoloth master of the foul waterway whose tributaries link all the Lower Planes.
  • The Flail of Bargrivyek is a sentient weapon weilded by the Avernus-based goblinoid deity Bargrivyek. The Flail allows Bargrivyek to enter into Hexblade warlock pacts with mortal protégés.
  • Each new patron includes customization options, lore, new eldritch invocations, unique familiars (including a new stat block for a Styx mephit), and more!

As an added bonus, every time this supplement gains another new bestseller medal, I will expand it to include one or more additional patrons with strong ties to Avernus.

Fancy making your warlock pact with Kurtulmak, the kobold deity who dwells in an underground realm beneath Avernus's blasted surface?

Or perhaps you'd like to serve the god-like pit fiend Gargauth?

Their time may come... Stay tuned!

Gargauth you say? I'm about to go purchase Bound to Avernus: Warlock Customization, but you have me intrigued with The Hidden Lord. Details?

Thanks so much for your interest in the supplement! Gargauth's not part of it yet but is one of the possible bonus patrons who might be added whenever the supplement hits another bestseller medal milestone. Kostchtchie was just added a few weeks ago when it achieved Copper bestseller. Given that Gargauth has a hidden connection to the events in the official DESCENT INTO AVERNUS adventure for 5E, it seemed like he'd be an interesting addition as a warlock patron for the adventure or beyond... :)

He's also got ties to the Gralhunds in Dragon Heist.

Ive been researching Gargauth for about 20 years. If youd like some info and references to stuff on him id love to have a chat. Im looking at using him as the BBE for a big campaign im trying to write, but dont really know where to start.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
