The Lower Planes teem with twisted creatures just waiting to be set loose. In this supplement you will find the following:

  • 5 Villains

  • 2 Lairs

  • 57 monsters, ranging from CR 1/2 to CR 20

  • Lore on disease in the Blood War as well as a new disease, Hellish Fever.

Everything comes with accompanying lore and original art designed to tell the story of each entry.

Use these new elements to enrich your Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus or Out of the Abyss campaign. Or, if you’re feeling particularly fiendish, unleash them on the Material Plane where dwell your unsuspecting party of adventurers.

So I'm really loving these creatures a lot now that I'm reading through a lot more of the content. However, there are some possible errors you may want to check. I'm not sure if this is welcome to give on just a few things but I did notice a lot of simple stuff through scanning and a few more from converting some stat blocks into Homebrew private for my personal use.

-With regards to the Stygian Dragons, I believe you set the reach for most of the attacks to 5ft when the majority of Dragons as they grow have reached of 10 or 15 feet for bites and tail attacks. I'll be changing this for when I run it to reflect normal dragon reach.

-Also, for the Host Devil and Swarm variant, the Noxious Breath omitted what type of damage to deal. It just says 'Xd6 damage' instead. I am assuming this is poison damage for now.

-Formatting errors:
->Disease Lord has the Magic Resistance all in italics and bold in the description.
->Broodbloat has a lowercase...See more

Hey creators! Just was getting ready to make all of the monsters on the D&D Beyond Homebrew section of the website for my campaign. I was wondering about when I make them, seems obvious, but to be clear I should set all of the monsters to be private so that people purchase your creatures on DM's Guild?

If you would like them to be available, I don't mind making them in the homebrew section without the written paragraphs and artwork? I of course woud provide a link to this page to purchase the full info and art about the monsters here. But would love to know!

Sorry for the late response.
Yes, you can absolutely use this to share with your players, as long as it's on private. I'm also fine with you including artwork provided all the monsters and stuff don't get spread around.

I don't usually point out editing mistakes in comments here, but these two made me laugh (and are easy to overlook):
Golothoma - pg. 57 HP 240 (0d12 + 0) Easiest kill ever?
Dark Priest - pg. 81 HP 84 (12d9 + 24) At first glance I just thought the 9 was a typo, but the HP are calculate properly using the d9, for 12d8 + 24, I believe it should be 78 HP.

This looks great. What are the lairs? Are they like mini-adventures or encounters with maps?

Hi there! I created one of the Lairs, Fort Balator for the Villain Vindictus. The lairs is a preset dungeon, with monsters, loot, and areas to explore. Think of it as a great way to add a dungeon in Avernus on the fly. Or a side quest. Hope that helps!

Very cool indeed. I'm about to get Avernus and run it. I need some replacement monsters and side stuff to screw with any of my players that pick it up and read it. Keeps them from knowing everything lol. Added to my cart. Thanks for the quick response.

The other lair was written by me. It is a detailed tavern in Baldur’s Gate, run by a unique demon and connected to both Avernus and the Abyss. It comes with adventure hooks, but is intended as a launch/rest point for your campaign Heroes. It has a beautiful color map by Elven Tower

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
