Nice source for encounters! Just bought this to spice up Elturel :)

The first encounter I wanted to use was the "Forbidden Delights". It says the "Dybbuk" would be in appendix A. Its missing. Any chance adding that in?

I wish this could have a physical book version I could buy.
Also would like to see more books of the other levels of Hell, such as Stygia and Nessus that aren't covered all that much. Exploring the icy seas of Stygia and encountering Sekolah, having a chance to talk one on one with the Iceman himself, sneaking around Asmodeus's castle and finding out some juicy secrets. So much potential...

Please make a Fantasy Grounds version or use the one from the community, thanks!

I would buy (and pay more) if a Fantasy Grounds version existed. It appears a community member even made one and not one of the 6 or so authors responded. Very disappointing.

I've been using this constantly in my Avernus campaign, dropping random things on my party, and I love all the not-necessarily-combat encounters of just things happening and the PCs can interact or they can skip. Gives the campaign a lot of atmosphere and flavor.

On page 8, you have "soul canon." I think you meant "cannon."

Two questions for AL. First there are a few side adventure that says dms can choose the items to reward as long as it is uncommon or similar criteria. Just want to make sure that I do get to pick or if I have to roll on a table or if there is some kind of AL rule that tells me I have to do a specific thing.

The big thing I was hoping for clarification on is how to deal with the red wizard by the river Styx. He sells potions from a bag of holding and if attacked he teleports away. Love the encounter but a party members whole family was killed by red wizards so it's likely to go south right away. If so it's fine, he teleports away or gets counterspelled and the party gets an empty bag of holding. But if trade starts and things end up going south, how should I deal with the potions? They payed but he didn't get away with their money. Or someone persuades him to prove he has the potions but then he gets attacked. I'm just trying to cover my bases because I hope this will be a good character moment. But...See more

I have converted this into a Fantasy Grounds Module and would like to give it back so anyone with Fantasy Grounds can import it. Who can I send it to to get it added?

Earlier today I saw a notification that DM's Guild download servers where experiencing issues. If you sign into DriveThruRPG, you might be able to download it from there. Not sure; just sharing what I saw today.

DriveThruRPG uses the same servers. I was having the same issues when I "bought" these free products last week, but it was fixed when I tried again a day or two ago.

One problem I have with the Encounters is it seems to assume the Players are on foot, but the game practically expects them to have a War Machine to get around. So what good is an old man standing in the wastelands, when your PCs are going to blow past them super fast. Same with a lot of the devil/demon combat, it says they will be attacked/hunted/tracked etc, but with 3x the movement speed of the creatures you're just going to leave them in the dust anyway.

That's a good question, Stephen. If your players are just burning across Avernus and avoiding distractions, I'd recommend the following:

1. Focus on encounters that might attract them (such as the broken-down war machine)
2. Use terrain to slow them down (for example, they have to go through a narrow, windy canyon)
3. Hit them with random encounters when they stop to rest (I would not permit them to rest while the war machine is running)
4. Hit them with random encounters when they are arriving or leaving keyed locations
5. Some encounters can be modded on the fly for a fast party. E.g. the orthon could fire a tracking bolt into a party member as they speed past

Have fun!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
