Taverns, Inns, and Taprooms: In Hell

ADD TO WISHLIST >

"Even the scorched battlefields of the war-torn layers of the Nine Hells need places travelers, devils, and hapless doomed mortals can kick up their feet, have a pint of ale (or larvae ichor, no judgement), and mingle with those willing to sell their souls and the fiends willing to take them."

This PDF is designed for use with the officially released BALDUR'S GATE: DESCENT INTO AVERNUS adventure! There are three new, unique locations on Avernus and Dis, the second layer of the Nine Hells. Each one is populated with NPCs, quests, new magic items, services, and other amenities that may help a dowtrodden group of adventurers to survive for one more day. Though they may not have the lavish offerings of the Wandering Emporium, they are incredibly unique and styled to fuel additional hours at your gaming table. 50 hellish trinkets, 8 new magic items ranging form uncommon to legendary, 13 exotic infernal beverages, and even *whispers* powerful narcotics are on offer for the right price inside these corrupted pages!

Cover Image: Taverns, Inns, and Taprooms: In Hell"Each location comes with a variety of quests tied to the NPCs, the material in this supplement can easily add 10 or more hours to a campaign set in hell. A lot of attention is paid to the fiendish menus and the handouts provided are of excellent quality. Definetly worth a buy!" - K.R.

"I love, love, love the interesting locations and the uniqueness put forth in this module. These areas are incredibly detailed and provide wonderful quests to add to DIA or really any adventure that happens through Avernus... an absolute joy to read and I cannot wait to introduce a hellish party to any of these!" - J.M.C

Incredible Locations!

Unique. The three locations take you on a sweeping jaunt around the first two layers of Baator. A tavern run by a gastronomic fiend, an inn on the back of a monolithic creature, or a taproom run by hunted adventurers - take your pick or use all three.

Populated. Each Tavern, Inn, or Taproom has been filled with fully formed NPCs with specific jobs, attitudes, and a variety of quests for your adventuring party to see to. Care was given to ensure that all manner of peoples were represented within these pages; even DEVILS know to use your chosen pronouns. Over two dozen servants, proprietors, peddlers, allies, and villains ensure you don't run out of options while on vacation in Hell!

Cost. Each establishment is rated on a 1-5 scale to be visible at a glance, along with the quality and style of atmosphere, lodging, food, and entertainment on offer. Bartering is prevalant in Baator and this PDF make use of gold, silver, magic items, and the enigmatic soul coin.

Full Menus. Each location is given a full menu of at least 16 items to choose from including breakfast, dinner, dessert, snack foods, wine, mead, beer, ale, and exotic liquors! Thanks to Carina Tous, every Tavern, Inn, and Taproom comes complete with a 1-2 page printable handout with various options on offer! Finding food that doesn't taste like a nupperibo's leavings will be hard without licensed dealers in all things edible. Your players' characters will want to have a decent meal every once in a while; why not enable them?

Robust Amenities. Far more than a spot to get drunk or sleep the night away, each location has a set of useful and unique amenities to choose from, including: spellcasting services, cartography, hell hound training, and access to nearly unlimited lore!

Delightfully (and Disgustingly) Boozy. 13 unique alcoholic beverages ensure your party will never ask for a pint of "stout dwarven ale" while in Hell. Will they need to trim off their fingernails for a Lava Bowl or host a posterboard presentation for a bottle of Muse? Maybe they should stick to coin - only those with an iron stomach should try the concotions made by Celeste Conowitch

Live on the Wild Side. Broker a back alley deal with a PC to try out several newly crafted narcotics for use in Baldur's Gate and Avernus itself. Live in the moment with a dose of Linger, try to taste what a rainbow looks like with Crosswire Berries, or try the most expensive drop of liquid in the multiverse: Stasis. Each drug was cooked up by the incredible Professor Jimbles

Any chance you could adapt this to FG (Fantasy Grounds)?

Hello! Great product! with slight hiccup on the downloads. For some reason the printer friendly version comes down as a .rar file? It won't unpack as an .rar and if I rename it to .pdf it's corrupt.

Though it ruins previews, I reuploaded the printer friendly version. Should just download like normal now.

Hello,

Is there any chance of uploading an update that has the cover image as the same size as the rest of the pages? I keep having to zoom right in when viewing the product on either my phone or laptop, and it can make navigating the supplement more troublesome than it could me.

10 / 10 on the content though, extremely entertaining and I can't wait to throw my party into these establishments.

Has this been resolved? or is it just me who still has a massive cover page and needs to zoom in every time?

I made changes to set the size identical to the rest of the PDF - but i'll look into it again and re-upload, could be an issue server-side. Delete it and download it again just in case. I'll check my end again.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
