Happy Jack's Funhouse


The painted man rode into town, tossing candy and small trinkets to the cheering children. The children, their mouths stuffed with gumdrops, laughed at his jet-black horse adorned with a white saddle festooned with jingle bells.

He introduced himself to the town elders as Happy Jack and asked their permission to set up his attraction in the town square. The elders, seeing the happiness in the children, agreed.

Happy Jack brought with him food vendors and a thrill ride – a large painted attraction which manifested from a leather green and red checkerboard satchel after he placed it on the ground.

All was fun for two days…

Happy Jack’s Funhouse is an adventure for four to six characters of levels 3rd thru 6th. Scaling suggestions are included for characters of up to 10th level. The adventure takes place in Happy Jack’s Funhouse, where the adventurers encounter strange creatures, traps, and games.

I will be dming this for my D&D group soon they just finished Tasha's Madhouse haha. just wondering if you had any recommendations on music to play for the campaign?

Very cool! When I ran it I used music by Nine Inch Nails and Michael Jackson. But any music would do.

How similar is this to Tasha's Madhouse? I loved the other module but was just a little hesitant to dive in and buy this because of the similarities. Is it different enough to justify owning both?

I think so. We tried to make the two adventures different, but still keep a connection between them.

I can't wait to run this, but is there any way someone could make a more detailed map? My players are picky about maps. I would even pay for them.

I understand your point. I decided to use our working map because it looks creepy and fits the theme of the adventure.

Is this a one shot? Thinking of running this for Halloween. How many hours are required to play?

It is a one-shot. That being said, it’s really hard to tell how long it will run. I ran it in 3 hours but I can see it running longer. It all depends on how your players interact with the adventure.

You can easily streamline the adventure by removing rooms from the map. My players skipped several rooms, which reduced the play time.

Hi there, I'm reading through this, and I'm a little confused about the random junk chart. It's noted as a 2D6, but there are 36 results and they're numbered very strangely? Can anyone please explain how it's supposed to be utilized? Thanks!

Well, I feel silly. I figured it out! You roll 2D6, using the two digits to make up the number, not add them. Simple.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
