Pipyap’s Guide is intended to be a companion to Baldur’s Gate Descent Into Avernus that you can use to flesh out that campaign or make your own games, all while being useful for your D&D Adventurers League characters. Do you want to see the Blood War from a lemure's point of view? Or face down a conjoined twin pit fiend? How about drink other-worldly wines in the most decadent of locales? This is the tome for you!

Included in this book:

  • descriptions of eight of the Nine Hells (Avernus is fully fleshed out in Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus)
  • six adventures, featuring play opportunities at all four tiers
  • instructions on how to create your own tier 1, 2, or 3 adventures set in various layers of the Nine Hells -- and include them in the Community Created Content (CCC) program

About This Book
The idea for this book started at Origins 2018 as the Admins walked down a hallway with Chris Lindsay. We were looking for a quiet place to play a game , we had a bag of cookies with us and someone asked for the cookie bag because they NEEDED a cookie. Secret Project Cookie Bag was born in that moment. What if there was a magical bag that could grant your fondest wish; give you what you want, even if it’s not always the best idea? Well, for everyone’s favorite, loveable imp Pipyap, it would be filled with endless cookies that if he ate them, would allow him to never have to go back to the Nine Hells again. We hope that as you peruse Pipyap’s Guide to All of the Nine Hells, you find your fondest wish within; even if you are going to Hell…

For the Malbolge adventure, if Mogdrin has both Plane Shift (1/week) and Teleport (1/day), how could he NOT escape the combat at the end of the module? The players would need to really get the jump on him (ignoring the attacking enemies), and focus on preventing his casting (when they likely don't even know he can cast these).

Note in the sidebar where Mogdrin first appear it says "When the characters find him, he has already used plane shift and teleport trying to escape the maze" so he doesn't have access to either unless the party long rested with him (and then he has teleport but not plane shift).

Did I miss something about the infernal gifts in the book? I didn't see them linked to an adventure...hopefully I missed that? If they aren't linked to an adventure I am not sure why they are in an AL book since I don't know how they'd be AL legal without that.

I am holding my review until my players finish all the modules but they all said to thank the authors for the weirdest module they played for Reunited. But I did toss they characters sheets on the floor before the reveal and used gummy worms and Oreo Cookies as props.

One of my players have requested Story Awards. Like promoted in Pipyap's army. With a possible effect of advantage when dealing with some imps.

so is this a finished product or is there work still being done on it? $55 seems a little steep to be rift with grammatical errors and poor maps when you can get an official wotc product with 250 pages for basically half that price or less. mythic odyssey of theros is only $30 and fairly new. Its literally the most expensive single item I've seen for fantasy grounds so far and put me off from buying the completionist bundle until i know more. info.

hello

I bought this book and it is good. I rate it 3 out of 5. The information is good but there are many errors in the book. a proof reader was seriously needed. otherwise rewriting most of it to make sense so I can read it to the players. other wise ideas and mods are one of the better ones off dms guild. I offer my ability to proof read any future work.

I have ran several of these adventures and they are very fun the players enjoyed them and it spiced up Decent Into Avernus in such away that the players want to complete all the mods to both books

Ran the first adventure (reunited) this and ran into 2 issues:
1) there is a description of Spernik using a breath weapon, but he's not stated or stated to be a half-dragon. Is he supposed to be? seems a bit too tough possibly (though if he breathes fire, then the imps are immune)
2) the place the floor pit starts isn't clear, there seems to be a 10x10 pit but then the whole floor is a pit? Also I was confused as to where the final boss is supposed to be, behind his secret door or not. Does he come out? could the hungry larvae beg for food before he even notices?

DDAL00-11 Pipyap's Guide to All of the Nine Hells was priced for me at $25.00 using the certification Identification code "Winter Fantasy 2020-POD." I scanned the code on my cell phone but could not continue and complete the purchasing process on my android, so I elected to do so on my computer at home. To my chagrin I have noticed that the price has changed from $25.00 to $44.99. I need some help with this, please

The code you entered is just a code for AL to track the reward. The code for the discount is the QR code on your cert. point a smart phone camera app at it, and you’ll get an option to open the DMs Guild in safari or whatever browser your phone uses. Hope that helps!

DDAL related question: is the planar fork actually ownable as treasure if the value exceeds the DDAL limit for T2

Is there no point to owning the planar fork anyway, since you can't plane shift to any layer other than Avernus? Is that intentional?

For Avernus, episode 3, scene A, where is the forge? The map makes it look like a storage room.

I wish the maps in these products weren't somehow warped or slanted on the page. I don't know what's going wrong exactly but it makes them impossible to import well into VTTs. Very obvious with Academia Arcana.

Sure Ben! Its got lots of story info on the Nine Hells (who and what is there along with some new monsters). It also has six adventures you can use in your home campaign (2 tier 1, 2 tier 2, 1 tier 3, and 1 tier 4). It also has rules for writing AL legal CCC adventures in the Nine Hells (though that bit is likely less useful to you).

So I’m a little confused. I opened the pdf hoping to look at a table of content. I wanted to get an idea of how fleshed out each layer of the 9 hells are as that is what I am really interested in. Why does it only give adventures. Are the 9 hells (minus Avernus) well fleshed out or is this mostly an adventure book?

The Nine Hells (minus Avernus, as that's fully detailed in the Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus) are given story notes and outlines here. You'll see points of interest, notable denizens, some adventure seeds, and more for each of those eight locations - it's not exhaustive, but each layer has been given 4-6 pages of pretty densely packed information.

The majority of the book features the 6 included adventures, and you also have some instructions on how you can write your own adventures set in the Nine Hells for Adventurers League play.

I would have like to buy a printed copy but I'm in Canada and the shipping cost is extravagant (60% of the book's price) is there a way it could be lowered, maybe by using USPS?

We have no control over the shipping method. I know some people ship to friends/family in the US, then arrange to pick up later.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
