The Drider's Revenge - Menzoberranzan Excursion Act 1

Delve into internal drow politics and uncover the dark history between House Freth and House Auvryndar in this 8-hour tier 3 adventure connected to Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage.

The Drider’s Revenge is the first segment of a trilogy that weaves intrigue into the conflict between the drow houses Freth and Auvryndar in Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage. It immediately follows the exploration of levels 10-12 in the hardcover adventure.

Note: The production of Act 3 (Menzoberranzan Excursion: Endgame) has been postponed indefintely. However, for those who purchase Act 2, I have included the full 16 pages of the Menzoberranzan Excursion Act 3: Endgame DM Notes along with the Act 2 documents so you can run the campaign to completion. For more information, see the discussion comments for Act 2 (Menzoberranzan Excursion: Devious Designs). Act 2 is complete.

This adventure includes a 23-page resource that brings Menzoberranzan to life as well as stat blocks for unique NPCs and brand-new adversaries, such as the drow death lancer, the drow haughty noble, and the hobgoblin annihilator.

Some details in levels 10-14 and 16 of Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage are changed by this adventure (most notably, House Freth’s agents are no longer suicidally antagonistic). These changes were made in order to promote a unified narrative and are detailed in the section titled Preface: From Undermountain (viewable in the pdf preview).

To utilize this adventure, you’ll need the Player’s Handbook, Dungeon Master’s Guide, the Monster Manual, and Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage.

Devious Designs, the 8-hour 2nd act of Menzoberranzan Excursion, is now available!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
