Phandelver's Noticeboards: 25 Quest Seeds for the Hinterlands

Name

Get Ready for Adventures in and around Phandalin!

The quest seeds you find in this collection are intended for villages or small towns in the hinterlands, where strange monsters roam and the wilds are still untamed. The noticeboards numbered one and two are intended for characters of level 1 or 2; the noticeboards numbered three through six for characters of level 3 or 4. One noticeboard covers the quests available in Phandalin, the village described in the Lost Mine of Phandelver campaign. The description of each respective quest is included in the campaign book, however. You may use these quest seeds to liven up villages along the characters' way, to bridge sessions where some players are missing from the table, or to offer more variety during a Lost Mine of Phandelver campaign.

What is Included?

This product includes 25 quest seeds with advice and pointers on how to solve or approach the quest. The quests are organized across six different notice boards. A seventh noticeboard with notes for quests detailed in the Lost Mine of Phandelver campaign is included as well! The product also includes the noticeboards' templates in case you want to reorganize the quests or even add your own! This means noticeboards without notes, boards and notes without text, and notes without the boards!

Hey,
I just started DM'ing and I'm preparing for starter set adventure LMoP, would this be a good addition to it and would you recommend it to a new DM? As for sourcebooks i only have Player's Handbook.

Hey! I think for a new DM, it's hard to recommend. These are basically inspirations for quests where you have to put in additional work or improvise alot. Maybe after a few sessions, you'll notice what you're good at and also if your players enjoy sidequests or if they just want to barrel through the main story. :)

Oh good to know, thanks for fast reply. I'll probably grab it for DoIP after finishing LMoP, maybe i'll be "experienced" enough by then.

Love these quests! Now I really want to help Lazy Brett with his undead boars but I don't know how or where...

Hey Micheal, thanks for getting a copy! I'd always suggest Photoshop but I'll assume you don't have that. The easiest way would probably be to use Microsoft Word. Use the image as the background, create a text box, and rotate that. Here's an explanation for that: https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-rotate-text-in-word-4174339

Alternately, you can get yourself a free Photoshop equivalent like Gimp, but you might need to spend a bit of time to learn how to use the program: https://www.gimp.org/

Good luck and have fun! :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
