First Blush on Fantasy Grounds

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The pressures of one’s birth negotiate a difficult harmony with one’s destiny. A new path might be directly ahead, but how is one to know?

-Maurita Rousse, Talarian diplomat and self-proclaimed mystic

Now on Fantasy Grounds!

Start your own duet campaign! Teleport your way out of the confines of a castle to an ancient mountainside cavern with a secret waiting just for you...

First Blush is the inaugural adventure of D&D Duet, bringing you high quality, ready to play material focused on supporting adventuring parties of 1 Player and 1 DM.

This adventure is written for a first-level character in a one-on-one 5th edition D&D campaign. It encourages collaborative storytelling between the DM and the player and takes the PC through low-stakes social and combat encounters, culminating in a high-stakes combat far from home.

You’ll find everything you need to jump-start your own two-person game.

This product includes a .mod file for use in the Fantasy Grounds Virtual Tabletop. It is a conversion of the First Blush print materials that includes:

  • 2-4 hour introductory adventure adaptable to any setting and spanning 2 parts
  • All necessary stat blocks and tokens for monsters and NPCs
  • 3 battle maps
  • 3 ready to go player sheets complete with background information and personality traits

This adventure is perfect for a first-timer or an experienced player looking to explore the hobby in a fresh (sans traditional group) way. This would also make for a great session zero or breakout adventure for a player before the character joins a larger party.

The storyline continues in our Second Glance Fantasy Grounds conversion, a level two duet adventure, available on DMsGuild!

And, after that, the narrative arc finds a resolution in Third Time's the Charm, available for download here.

Additionally, we have a fun, Sune's Day celebration adventure for pairs and parties, Cupid's Sparrow. Explore a small town during their Sune's Day festival, have a few surprising or amusing social encounters, and get to the bottom of the strange behavior in the Lovers' Nook Inn.

We'd love for you to check out our blog on dndduet.com

is this module Unity compatible, and if so does it utilize LoS?

The module was made in and for Fantasy Grouinds Classic, but should still work in Unity. It does not use LoS because that is a feature in Unity (or so I understand).
Thanks for your interest and question! Let us know if we can do anything else for you.

I'm new to Fantasy Grounds, but I can't seem to locate the character sheets in the .mod when I load it. I fully admit I might be missing something, but they're not something I'm seeing easily. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Michael and Stephen,
I thought that they were in there too, but I was mistaken. I have uploaded the PDF of the pre-made character sheets to this adventure. I hope that you'll be able to move these pre-made characters into Fantasy Grounds without too much difficulty. I do not trust myself to modify the .mod file without messing it up again!

I hope that helps. Thank you so much for checking out our work.
Best,

Is it possible to use this material with Roll20?

Great question Ricardo.

This product contains a .mobi file which will really only work for Fantasy Grounds.

If you are using Roll20 and want to play this module, I would recommend getting the PDF version (not this one) and copy/pasting into Roll20. Down the line, we may see what a Roll20 module would entail.

I hope that helps,
Jonathan Ball

Hi guys,
Upon adding the module to my modules folder, the library in Fantasy Grounds loads with only the text "czgzs6kvams11" under the images and maps. Could anyone help me with the matter?

Ok, I it should be fixed now. Fantasy Grounds is new to me. Cool program, but not without it's learning curve! The files should all load and be linked through the story now. If there are any more issues, please let us know and we will address them as swiftly as possible.

The latest update should address that problem. Sorry for the inconvenience! I'm still learning FG and didn't realize that it did not export the image files when I initially tried. Let us know if there is anything else we can do.

Agustin N,
I thought that I could edit my own module, but FG had other ideas! I rebuilt the module from the beginning and made the new module First Blush 1.4. When I loaded it into FG, I had maps and the story and everything was hyperlinked and worked. Please let us know if 1.4 works for you.
Thanks so much for your patience with me as I tweaked this adventure. and thank you for supporting our work.
Best,
Jonathan Ball

Having trouble with some of the maps in Fantasy Grounds. Of the 9 maps available, only 4 open. The rest throw an error message.

Adrian,
Thanks for letting us know about the broken links. We have corrected that issue in the latest update of the module. The items that you are referring to were not actually maps, but little filler images that we have since decided to remove. So don't worry, you aren't missing any content!

We're excited to hear what you think and hope you have a lot of fun with the adventure.
Best,
Jonathan

Hey, the adventure looks like a blast! Can't wait to run it. One question: the module appears to be missing a few key images and one map. Specifically, it's missing the door, gear, tower, and the map of The Realm of Es'tra Duhn. Am I just overlooking something?

Hi Margaret,
Thanks so much for your kind words! We're thrilled that you like the adventure, and we'd love to hear how it goes after you run it!

So, for your question, we updated the module and removed some of the pictures, so the images you're missing are just filler—you're not actually missing any content. We also decided to re-situate the adventure in the Forgotten Realms, specifically as starting in Amn and then mis-teleporting to the Cloud Peaks, which is why the regional map is gone.

Apologies about the confusion!
Best,
- Beth

Thank you for the introductory adventure into D&D. Quick question, in Second Glance, you mention that the story could take place in Amn. Any suggestion on where the Kingdom if Es'tra Duhn would be, and Varhash, in Faerun??

Hi Brian,
We're so pleased to hear that you like the adventures! And our apologies for the confusion on the setting!

So what we were thinking was that the PC would have teleported out of Amn into The Cloud Peaks, and the druid colony could be at the edge of the Snakewood. They then go back into The Cloud Peaks for the third adventure.

If you wanted them to go further away, there are plenty of mountains abutting forests across Faerun, but we thought the tension of the PC having the option to return home or to set out on an adventure along the Sword Coast was an interesting one!

Hope that helps!
- Beth

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
